- Provide the choice of direct access to an ANP, both in the Practice and over the telephone, for the general practice population
- Make professionally autonomous decisions for which he/she is accountable
- Provide a first point of contact, face to face or by telephone triage, within the Practice for patients presenting with undifferentiated, undiagnosed problems, making use of skills in history taking, physical examination, problem-solving and clinical decision-making, to establish a diagnosis and management plan
- Instigate necessary invasive and non-invasive diagnostic tests or investigations and interpret findings/reports
- Undertakes and interprets a range of diagnostic tests and routine clinical procedures eg cytology, venepuncture, blood pressure monitoring etc.
- Where the post holder is an independent prescriber: to prescribe safe, effective and appropriate medication as defined by current legislative framework

- Evidence of appropriate continuing professional development activity to maintain up-to-date knowledge and on-going competence in all aspects of the NP role

- Evidence of working autonomously and as part of a team
- Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of their own clinical practice
- Previous experience of managing and developing a nursing team
- Interpreting and implementing local and National policy agendas for health
- Registered General Nurse (Currently registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council)
- Recognised NP qualification at minimum of degree level or equivalent
- Independent Nurse Prescriber
- Teaching / Mentoring experience and / or qualification

A position has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to undertake the role of Advanced Nurse Practitioner. Experience in management of minor illness, minor ailments and injuries and chronic disease management essential. Must be able to relay clinical information and maintain accurate, comprehensive consultation records using EMIS web and Docman. Applicant must be able to work in a changing environment and implement change when applicable to provide high quality health outcome. Main duties of the job
Applicants should have experience in management of minor illness, minor ailments and injuries and chronic disease management. They should be able to participate in patient telephone triage to manage patient demand and advise patients in the safest and most appropriate way relevant to their problems. They will demonstrate safe, clinical decision-making and expert care, including assessment and diagnostic skills, for patients within the general practice. The post holder will demonstrate critical thinking in the clinical decision-making process. They will work collaboratively with the general practice team to meet the needs of patients, supporting the delivery of policy and procedures.

Belmont Medical Centre is situated just off the main A465 Abergavenny Road, in Eastholme Ave, Belmont. Our doctors, nurses and all other staff are dedicated to offering a professional healthcare service to approximately 9,000 patients. The team includes doctors, advanced nurse practitioners, nurses, healthcare assistant, physiotherapists and midwife, all supported by the reception and admin teams. As a member of the WBC Primary Care Network, we work closely with Cantilupe Surgery and Wargrave House Surgery offering additional patient services including medicines management, social prescribing and health and well-being support.
