      Position Purpose:

      The Outside Sales Director, Western Division markets will include (but not limited to): Colorado, Washington, Arizona, California (Bay Area).

      The Outside Sales Director is responsible for leading a team of Pro Sales Managers (PSM) to drive incremental sales growth and profitability through Managed Accounts for assigned markets. The Outside Sales Director will focus on driving sales growth, margin enhancement, and leading their team into increased sales mix by selling the whole project while delivering an excellent sales experience for Pro customers. They are accountable for leading and developing a high-performing sales team, driving connectivity with in-store Pro to create a comprehensive inside and outside store experience and ecosystem for customers, and meeting or exceeding targets for assigned sales plans. The Outside Sales Director will utilize customer relationship management platforms to identify trends and patterns and discover insights and opportunities to drive portfolio accountability within teams and increase market share. A successful Outside Sales Director will use their knowledge of their assigned competitive market environment and the industry to develop strategies to win wallet share and maintain The Home Depot's competitive advantage.

      Key Responsibilities:
      • 20% - Drive Incremental Sales - Understand competitive market environment, industry specific trends, and competitive activity to develop strategies and tactics to win wallet share with established portfolios and increase overall market share. Develop Pro Sales Managers and reinforce selling and operational skills and desired behaviors through education, coaching, mentorship, and motivation, including co-selling with large customers and opportunities.
      • 65% - Outside Sales Leadership - Lead and inspire Pro Sales Managers, Outside Sales Representatives, and Account Managers and cultivate an overall culture of motivation and drive to help the team and the organization achieve success. Execute Pro growth strategy consistently across assigned markets to drive sales growth, margin enhancement, increased sales mix, and an enhanced customer experience. Build strong relationships with cross-functional business partners to create a cohesive network of support within the market, leveraging The Home Depot capabilities to win customers. Build relationships through The Home Depot Pro sponsored events to continuously represent the brand and drive new business.
      • 15% - Talent Management - Optimize diverse talent through a demonstrated commitment to equal employment opportunity. Oversee talent decisions and retention strategies for a team of high-performing associates across assigned markets.

      Direct Manager/Direct Reports:
      • This Position typically reports to the Senior Director, Outside Sales
      • This Position has up to 5-10 Direct Reports


      Travel Requirements:
      • Typically requires overnight travel more than 50% of the time.

      Physical Requirements:
      • Requires intermittent periods during which continuous physical exertion is required, such as walking, standing, stooping, climbing, and lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward.

      Working Conditions:
      • Typically in a comfortable environment but with regular exposure to factors such as temperature extremes, moving machinery, loud noise, and fumes that cause noticeable discomfort or a moderate risk of accident or illness.


      Minimum Qualifications:
      • Must be 18 years of age or older
      • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States

      Preferred Qualifications:
      • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
      • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams
      • Ability to negotiate, handle complaints, settle disputes, and resolve grievances with both internal and external customers
      • 8+ years account management/sales management experience
      • 8+ years home improvement or home building industry experience
      • Proven management skills of managing, building, and leading a sales team to success in a high paced retail environment
      • Experience supporting multiple units across a wide geography, preferably in a large format retailer.
      • Vendor relations knowledge and experience.
      • Experience in merchandising or buying roles in a retail organization.

      Minimum Education:
      • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
