      Shift

      Monday - Friday 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
      Rotating on call required.

      Summary

      The primary purpose of the PACS Technologist position is to reconcile diagnostic exams and the associated patient record as it applies to the Picture Archiving and Communication System . Works closely with department managers, supervisors and radiological technologists to ensure proper digital image data transfer into PACS.

      Fosters and encourages a receptive and nurturing environment conducive to learning and contributes to education activities of patients and family members, faculty, fellow employees, medical students, residents, fellows, graduate research assistants, volunteers, M. D. Anderson Diagnostic Imaging Program students, clinical affiliate students, and visiting colleagues/scientists.

      Key Functions

      1. Support PACS, EPIC, Billing Tool, Powerscribe, and Coderyte Applications.

      2. Responsible for the daily reconciliation of all radiology systems.

      3. Expert user of the PACS Change Request Form (PCRF) webpage and assorted programs.

      4. Work in cooperation with other members of the PACS support team to identify present and future needs for process development.

      5. On call assignments.

      6. Other duties as assigned.

      Required education: High school diploma or equivalent plus graduation from an approved education program in radiologic technology.

      Required experience: Five years of clinical radiology technology experience or three years of clinical radiologic technology experience at MDACC.

      Required certification: Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
