About the role
Due to an internal promotion, a newly created opportunity for Payroll Compliance Manager has arisen within our energised and passionate Payroll Compliance & Governance team.Supporting all brands across the Coles Group portfolio (Supermarkets, Coles Services, Liquor, RROA, Chef Fresh, and Distribution Centres) this role is offering the chance to leave a legacy and strengthen a risk and compliance mentality.

What you’ll be doing
Reporting directly into the Head of Payroll, Governance and Compliance, you'll drive strategy, implement controls, manage tactical solutions, and collaborate with diverse stakeholders, including risk, business assurance, P&C, and insurance teams. You’ll lead project initiatives, manage a team, and engage with the Audit and Risk function and monthly Payroll governance forums.
You’ll also:
• Lead and provide assurance around payroll compliance and reporting
• Drive a consistent approach in performing payroll related activities
• Lead, mentor, and inspire the compliance team
• Provide audit recommendations and maintain a consolidated risk profile
• Lead the delivery of project teams
• Maintain a focus on data lead decisions to drive process optimisation, strong controls and a reduction in the overall risk profile.
About you and your skills
While industry background is flexible, a strong focus on risk and compliance, audit, and strategic thinking is essential. Your ability to communicate, influence, and maintain confidentiality is crucial.
You’ll also have:
• Experience working in governance, compliance risk and controls
• Demonstrated understanding of the payroll landscape
• Experience interpreting industrial instruments including Modern Awards and Enterprise Agreements
• Prior leadership experience in a complex matrix environment
• Ability to understand and apply risk management practices, approaches and framework.
