      POSITION SUMMARY:

      Under the supervision of the Laboratory Director, the Laboratory Assistant is responsible for phlebotomy, operation of the Laboratory, and coordinates distribution of results and other information. The Laboratory Assistant works with all Medical Service Providers and outpatient facilities to assure the best possible health care in view of the Laboratory's scope of operation.

      The majority of the patients that interact with the laboratory staff are adult and geriatric patients. The laboratory staff must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide laboratory services appropriate to the age of the patients served by the department and be knowledgeable in recognizing signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect and cognizant of safety issues, both environmental and medical. Laboratory personnel must be competent to communicate and obtain samples from adults and geriatric patients as well as children and capable of adjusting their treatment and communicating instructions appropriate to the specific needs of the patient.

      REQUIREMENTS:

      High School education or equivalent. Prefer 2 years college (60 semester hours) study in Chemistry and Biology. Current California Phlebotomy Technician License and Current BLS Required. Highly prefer at least two years of Clinical Laboratory experience. Basic Computer Skills .

      • Estimated pay is based on qualifications (including but not limited to experience, education, certifications, and licensure where applicable).
