A postdoctoral research position is available in the Jensen Laboratory within the McAllister Heart
Institute. The Jensen Lab is dedicated to understanding the molecular basis of heart failure, with a strong focus on metabolism and mitochondrial function. We utilize both cell culture and established mouse model systems to explicate fundamental aspects of myocardial biology in both the physiological and injured states. The two primary projects in the lab currently focus on (1) alpha-1 adrenergic receptor regulation of cardiac and systemic metabolism and (2) the role of the MEK-ERK axis in regulating cardiomyocyte mitochondrial function. We also have an abiding interest in the mechanisms underlying chemotherapeutic cardiotoxicity and are active in the basic/translational cardio-oncology space. This work is supported by two R01s, both of which will be funded through 2027.
As part of the UNC Chapel Hill research environment, the Jensen Lab has access to state-of the-art core equipment and services that enhance our research. As a member of the UNC McAllister Heart Institute, we are part of a highly collaborative, dynamic, and stimulating research group that enables multidisciplinary research and ensures an outstanding postdoctoral training experience.Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
