- Ensure the systematic provision of a high-quality specialist clinical psychology service to NHS Talking Therapies (Improving Access to Psychological Therapies: IAPT) service users, across community primary care settings.
- Advise, supervise and support the assessment and treatment provided by clinical members of the teams who provide psychologically based care and treatment within the service.
- Work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the service.
- Utilize research skills for audit, policy and service development and research.
- Propose and lead on the implementation of service developments.
- Work in an effective partnership with the clinical service leadership including other Talking Therapies team members and members of other agencies responsible for a client's care.
- Post-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology.
- Registered with the Health Professions Council as a Clinical Psychologist.
- Well developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, highly technical, and clinically sensitive information to clients, their families, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional and nonprofessional groups.
- Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology.
- Knowledge of legislation in relation to the client group and mental health.
- Knowledge of attachment theory.
- Formal training in IAPT compliant supervision of other psychological professionals including at least one IAPT approved therapeutic modality.
- Specialist experience in the area of complex trauma- related mental health.
- Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients psychological care and treatment.
- Experience of planning and delivering ongoing training/CPD and supervision to clinical staff at steps two and three within a stepped care model.

The teams are undergoing transformation and expansion and to achieve this we want to increase Clinical Leadership. This is an exciting time for NHS Talking Therapies and the post holders will have significant opportunity for service development to ensure the quality of our therapeutic offer
NHS Talking Therapies Merseycare is an NHS service is made up of a number of Talking Therapies teams. We provide therapy for those aged over 16yrs who experience anxiety and depression. The teams offer a variety of psychological therapies to the community in Merseycare. Interventions are diverse and evidence based, ranging from guided self help, face to face or video therapy, telephone support to workshop courses. We offer a range of evidence based psychological therapies including CBT, IPT, CFD and DIT to meet the individual needs of our service users.

The post holder will join a supportive and friendly Clinical Leadership Team, made up of a Consultant Clinical Psychologist, a Principal Clinical Psychologist and a team of lead clinicians from various therapeutic backgrounds. The Clinical Leads/Lead Clinicians from each place based team work together to ensure equity of offer across the Trust.
The Clinical Lead / Principal Clinical Psychologist will link in with the wider Senior Leadership Team for the service, including close liaison with the Operational Manager; Clinical Service Manager; as well as Team Managers/Leads.
