      The Role

      AspenTech is looking for talented, energetic, and outgoing engineers as Solution Consultants in a rapidly growing field where you will have the opportunity to work directly with customers and partners in Oil & Gas Pipeline & Terminals, power generation, and utilities distribution (e.g., water, gas) around the world to understand their challenges and industry drivers. You will support the development of vision and solution roadmaps that address their requirements in a pre-sales role to enable the growth and selection of AspenTech’s state-of-the-art SCADA solutions and value-add applications.

      This is an external facing role that requires self-motivated individuals with strong business and technical knowledge along with solid consultative and communication skills to enable partners and to jointly position AspenTech solutions and services with existing and prospective customers to deliver business outcomes that drive transformational results.

      The ideal candidate should be familiar with SCADA solutions for oil & gas pipelines and terminals, power and/or water.

      Your Impact

      • Lead technical engagements and define scope for assigned opportunities to maximize product license and service bookings
      • Apply consultative skills in customer-facing situations to identify customer problems, understand their business and operational issues, and establish a credible value proposition in collaboration with other domain experts
      • Facilitate customer understanding of the technical functionality of AspenTech solutions, as well as their impact on their operations and maintenance
      • Lead and/or participate in customer consulting engagements to facilitate sales, including workshops, and scope review sessions
      • Proactively support pipeline development (e.g., marketing, account planning, awareness sessions, etc.) and sales execution (e.g., achieving technical win, establishing Sequence of Events) in the assigned accounts and opportunities
      • Lead complex and high value opportunities to assess the required solutions, identify/estimate scope and create customer facing quotes and proposals including responses to RFI/RFQ/RFPs
      • Use experience and industry knowledge to drive process improvements and increase capacity for increased growth and scalability
      • Focus and help implement strategies to achieve new growth initiatives and target market expansions with existing and prospective customers
      • Deliver on-site seminars and webinars to enable partners and jointly manage and execute awareness programs with customers
      • Engage with clients to proactively manage software evaluations to assure successful outcomes

      What You'll Need

      • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant technical subject preferred
      • 10+ years of experience in a consultant, pre-sales, or professional services consultant type of role in developing and/or supporting SCADA systems and applications
      • Strong drive to solve customer problems and rapidly convert pipeline opportunities into closed deals
      • Balance of business and technology acumen, including ability to articulate high-level technical solutions to business problems and the differentiated value those solutions can provide.
      • Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills, including ability to create clear observations, analysis and conclusions based on customer interviews and data
      • Excellent customer facing skills with experience presenting to and achieving buy-in from managers and director levels; ability to build strong industry relationships
      • Travel up to 25-50% on average
