      Are you a privacy enthusiast with the skills to protect personal data like a superhero? GitHub is looking to find our next Privacy Analyst, who can wield their GDPR knowledge and privacy expertise to keep our data fortress private and our users' trust intact. You'll be joining our dynamic privacy team, consisting of two privacy professionals who are dedicated to taking GitHub’s privacy program to the next level of maturity and scalability. With a proactive and forward-thinking approach, this team is focused on transforming GitHub’s privacy practices into a highly efficient and scalable framework while maintaining the highest standards of data protection and building upon our already excellent foundation.

      What we are looking for:

      As a Privacy Analyst at GitHub, your primary mission is to document complex privacy principles into straightforward privacy controls and actionable requirements. You'll be our go-to expert in GDPR, guiding your fellow Hubbers in the battle against personal data mistreatment and ensuring we meet the highest standards.

      Responsibilities:

      • Regulatory Virtuoso: Be one of our resident GDPR gurus, keeping up-to-date with regulations, and providing guidance to internal teams on how to stay compliant.
      • Privacy Controls Alchemist: Develop, implement, and maintain privacy controls, particularly in relation to getting an ISO 27018 certification, making sure our data protection measures are top-notch and aligned with certifications and best practices.
      • Privacy Translator: Interpret privacy regulations and principles, transforming them into clear, actionable requirements for implementation across GitHub.
      • Collaboration Sidekick: Partner with cross-functional teams, helping them understand and implement privacy requirements and spreading the gospel of data protection.
      • Compliance Protector: Conduct privacy impact assessments, identifying potential risks, and recommending corrective measures to ensure privacy by design and continuous improvement.
      • AI Adventurer: Together with your colleagues, you'll dive headfirst into the world of emerging AI regulations, seeking to understand and demystify them. You'll help GitHub to understand and apply best practices, ensuring we're prepared to face any challenges that come our way.
      • Data Breach Defender: Act as a key player in managing data incidents, collaborating with other teams to mitigate risks and prevent future incidents.

      Required Qualifications:

      • 3 years of experience in a privacy, data protection or similar role
      • Working knowledge of GDPR
      • Working knowledge of relevant data protection regulations and enforcement actions (CCPA, FTC, etc.)

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • Bachelor's degree in a related field (Information Security, Computer Science, Law, Cybersecurity or equivalent)
      • Strong understanding of privacy principles, certifications, and frameworks
      • CIPP Certification
      • Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex information in a clear, engaging manner

      Minimum salary of $61,300 to maximum $162,500.

      These pay ranges are intended to cover roles based across the United States. An individual's base pay depends on various factors including geographical location and review of experience, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant. At GitHub certain roles are eligible for benefits and additional rewards, including annual bonus and stock. These rewards are allocated based on individual impact in role.

      In addition, certain roles also have the opportunity to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization, depending on the terms of the plan and the employee's role.

      Location: In this role, you can work remotely from anywhere in the United States.
