      Program Driver
      Democracy International (DI) is seeking a Program Driver to provide support and transportation to the multi-year Liberia Elections and Democracy (EDA) Activity. This is a full-time position to be based in Monrovia, Liberia. This position is only open to Liberian citizens. The expected start time is June 1, 2023 and end date is May 31, 2024 with possible extension. The purpose of this new USAID/Liberia project is to support the deepening of democracy in Liberia so that elected representatives can increasingly govern in the interest of their constituents. To do so, EDA will build the skills of future leaders to run for office and work on campaigns, support the institutionalization of civic education, and build the capacity of the election commission and civil society to manage electoral cycles.
      Essential Job Duties:
      • Drive DI vehicles for all official travel.
      • Maintain a high standard of service to all passengers including staff and guests.
      • Ensure punctuality and safe transport by observing the road and traffic laws and regulations.
      • Ensure that the vehicle is kept clean, tidy, and working in good condition at all times.
      • Ensure vehicle repairs and maintenance are carried out properly in a timely manner.
      • Keep records of all vehicle movement, repairs and maintenance in the logbook and submit them to your supervisor for review and onward submission to the Operations Officer on a weekly and monthly basis.
      • Monitor day-to-day maintenance checks including but not limited to oil, water, battery, breaks, tires, etc.; and
      • Assist as needed, including but not limited to delivering goods, correspondence, packages, and official documents as requested.
      • Carry out any other duty as deemed necessary by your supervisor.
      Qualifications:
      • Valid Liberian driver’s license with a clean driving record.
      • Must be able to read and write. Any additional qualifications in mechanical transport/ automobiles will be an added advantage
      • Experience handling USAID vehicles and supporting USAID implementing partners preferred.
      • 2 years of experience as a professional driver.
      • Must be in a good medical condition
      • Have time management skills; and the ability to develop and manage the schedule of staff transportation.
