Job summary
This role is for a qualified Healthcare assistant (HCA)
The role is for 8 hours per week on Tuesdays.
The successful applicant will see patients within clinics at our GP Practice in Headingley, Leeds LS6 2AF
Main duties of the job
The role will include the following :
- Administrative HCA duties including maintaining accurate records and safety checking to ensure patients requiring ACR and repeat bloods are contacted and booked in for appointments incuding follow ups.
-- To undertake all duties in line with the training and instruction given by the practice nurses and general practitioners and undertake allocated tasks to agreed protocols.
-urinalysis,phlebotomy and preperation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory
Administering B12 injections
Home visits
Undertaking Health checks for patients with long term conditions
Measuring and recording following physiological measurements in routine preparations :
blood pressure/pulse rate and rhythm/height and weight body mass index/venepuncture/ ECG/ basic wound care/blood sugar readings/ assistance at coil clinics
Support to the Clinical Team
- Collection of clinical waste, ensuring appropriate storage prior to disposal
- On-going cleaning and sterilisation of clinical equipment and working surfaces.
Experience:- Previous experience in a healthcare setting .- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical procedures- Strong communication and interpersonal skills- Ability to work well in a team environment- Compassionate and empathetic nature- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills

Job responsibilities
This role will be for 8 hours per week 8am - 4.30pm ( 30 min lunch break) .
Depending upon the existing skills and experience of the most suitable candidate , the role will include aspects of the following :
Timely and accurate maintenanance of patient records ensuring patients are booked in for necessary testing.Safety netting to ensure required samples are brought in and actioned.
-- To undertake all duties in line with the training and instruction given by the practice nurses and general practitioners and undertake allocated tasks to agreed protocols.
-urinalysis,phlebotomy and preperation of specimens for investigation by the pathology laboratory

Home visits ( must have Driving licence)
Undertaking Health checks for patients with long term conditions and to gather data eg NHS Health checks, QOF data capturing.

Support to the Clinical Team
Ensure adequate clinical stock and medical stationery levels are maintained.
- Preparation of clinical rooms prior to use, including making sure that all rooms are adequately stocked and equipment is in good working order, reporting any problems to the Practice Manager
- Checking and recording of medical supplies on receipt
- Collection of clinical waste, ensuring appropriate storage prior to disposal
- On-going cleaning and sterilisation of clinical equipment and working surfaces.
- All Practice staff are required to comply with Practice Safeguarding policies
- All Practice staff are required to complete mandatory E-learning.
Experience:- Previous experience in a healthcare setting .- Knowledge of medical terminology and basic medical procedures- Strong communication and interpersonal skills- Ability to work well in a team environment- Compassionate and empathetic nature- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills
