      Job Title: Material Handler/Forklift Operator

      Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:15pm

      Location: Surrey

      Payrate: $25/hr - $28/hr

      Job Description

      This position involves moving and placing materials throughout the day, requiring bending, crouching, and lifting. The role includes using forklifts and overhead cranes, with approximately 50% of the time spent operating machines. Flexibility to assist in other areas is essential.

      Responsibilities

      • Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, conveyors, and machines using approved material-handling equipment.
      • Operate stand-up and SDCB forklifts to load and unload trucks.
      • Move materials throughout the facility using hand trucks, forklifts, or other equipment as directed by the production supervisor.
      • Sort, label, and stock parts and components using the company’s inventory record system.
      • Maintain accurate and timely transactions in the ERP system for all material movements.
      • Distribute materials from the warehouse to production and other departments as required.
      • Assist coworkers with job functions as needed or assigned.
      • Train new or existing employees when required.
      • Follow procedures and exercise authority to prevent quality or process issues, document and report quality problems, contribute to corrective actions, verify implementation of solutions, and stop or control processing when issues are identified.
      • Support environmental protection and pollution-prevention efforts.
      • Perform lifting and physical material-handling tasks as required, with varying lifting demands depending on workflow.

      Required Essential Skills

      • Forklift experience and certification.
      • Experience with both SDCB and stand-up reach forklifts.
      • Proficiency with ERP systems and computer software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
      • Attention to detail is crucial.
      • Ability to lift 50 pounds.

      Nice to Have Additional Skills & Qualifications

      • Two years of experience as a material handler or related work experience.
      • High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
      • Strong history of applying continuous improvement concepts and tools.
      • Strong analytical, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
      • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
      • Must be able to perform physical activities such as standing, walking, sitting, kneeling, bending, and lifting.
      • Specific vision abilities required including close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
      • Must be able to work in a non-climate-controlled manufacturing shop and climate-controlled office environment.

      Work Environment

      The work environment includes an 80,000 sqft shop and office space that is very clean. It features three paint booths, an enclosed welding shop, and a bright lunch and training room. The team consists of 40 people, with direct collaboration with a lead and a supervisor. The facility is environmentally conscious and equipped with all necessary PPE. The shift is typically from 7 AM to 3:15 PM, with breaks included, and flexibility for after-hours or Saturday shifts is appreciated.
