      Under general direction of the Staff Services Manager II in the Research, Evaluation and Data Insights (REDI) Division, the Research Data Supervisor II will function as the supervisor responsible to directly oversee the operations of DSH System Data Section. Functions include but are not limited to:
      • State Hospital Data Analytics and Reporting
      • Conditional Release Program Data Analytics and Reporting
      • Annual Metric Calculation, Review and Publishing - across all populations and programs
      • Caseload Estimate: Patient Profiles Management and Analytics Support
      • Data and Metric Automation and Innovation Support
      • Pending Placement List Reporting
      • Daily/weekly/Monthly Report Development and Distribution

      This incumbent will oversee the functions of DSH System Data unit providing direct management to the DSH System Data team. The function of this team involves the regular and ad-hoc reporting of various census and patient driven data sets. The Research Data Supervisor ll will oversee the formulation of data reports, data analyses and data driven responses and will personally perform the most difficult or sensitive work for the group. The incumbent is responsible for maintaining data integrity throughout all reports and to work with the necessary teams to identify solutions to data reporting challenges.

      This function requires advanced use of Microsoft Excel (power pivot, power query, VBA, advanced excel functions, etc.); intermediate to advanced use of statistical analysis software such as SAS and knowledge of SAS programming language (or similar); intermediate to advanced knowledge of SQL programming; and intermediate to advanced use of data visualization platforms including Tableau and Power BI.

      Working Conditions
      • DSH-Sacramento is located at an 11-floor high rise building.
      • This position reports to the Allenby Building in Sacramento. A hybrid Telework schedule, consistent with the State of California's in-office requirement, may be considered with prior approval from management. The incumbent may also be required to travel throughout California as needed, with prior notice.
      • If telework is approved, incumbent is expected to provide in-office coverage on a rotational basis, and attend a variety of face-to-face meetings, and/or travel throughout California as needed, with prior notice.
      • Minimal travel (5%) may be required. This position will require a background check via Cal DOJ Live Scan to fulfill the responsibilities of the job. Use of technology, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Teams, WebEx, Zoom, and other virtual platforms is required.
