  Job Title: Rigger/Yard Worker

  Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm

  Payrate: $25/hr - $28/hr

  Job Description

  We are seeking a rigger/yard worker to assist with vessel drydocking, shipyard maintenance, and cleaning of equipment. This role involves general labor duties as assigned.

  Responsibilities

  • Dock and undock vessels as part of the drydocking ground crew.
  • Operate a forklift.
  • Work in confined spaces.
  • Perform grinding on vessels, which includes bending, reaching, and climbing.
  • Maintain equipment, including washing and painting.
  • Cross-train on various functions at the facility, such as welding, grinding, and painting.
  • Keep the shipyard, work stalls, and equipment neat and organized.
  • Follow tools maintenance testing and repair procedures.
  • Chip rust away and perform scaling.
  • Work outside in all weather conditions in a shipyard environment.
  • Lift tools weighing up to 50 lbs, including heavy equipment like sledgehammers.
  • Assist in moving straps and removing boats from the water, rigging with the crane.
  • Perform general cleaning and movement of totes.
  • Participate in general operations of the yard, including moving stands under the direction of the travel lift supervisor and operator.
  • Use hand and power tools, such as grinders and drills.

  Essential Skills

  • 1 year minimum of experience with rigging or overhead crane operation
  • Experience operating outdoor forklifts
  • Experience with hand and power tools, including grinders and drills (1-2 years).
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Capability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Strong English reading, writing, and verbal communication skills.

  Nice to Have Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Forklift class 3 or 4 license and certification.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Experience in shipyard, boat building, ship repair, and equipment maintenance.
  • Welding and fitting experience.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces, including entry and monitoring.

  Work Environment

  The work environment is in a shipyard specializing in services for fish boats, tugboats, barges, and custom float structures. Work indoors in confined spaces and outdoors, with some tasks done at heights of 25 feet. The dress code includes steel-toed safety boots and provided safety glasses/goggles. Candidates should have their own basic tools like a chipping hammer. The shift is from 7:30am to 4pm, with potential for overtime and travel to off-site locations.
