      W Sydney, debuting October 2023 waterfront and centre in Darling Harbour, is now casting for a dynamic and passionate Sales Manager. This key proactive sales role is responsible to source, secure and maximise total revenue for the hotel, primarily across the corporate transient, group, and MICE markets, with a focus on acquisition and retention of business.

      Reporting to the Director of Sales, this role will primarily focus on pro-active sales and corporate transient, group, and MICE lead generation, driving revenue and increasing market share across the segments of rooms, Beverage & Food, events, group FIT, spa and other revenue generating sources in line with W Hotels and Marriott International’s brand standards.

      CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

      With support from the Director of Sales and in their absence the Account Director, primary responsibilities for the Sales Manager include:

      • Representing the W brand in all sales activities in line with W Hotels and Marriott International’s corporate strategies.
      • Drive pro-active sales activities for the Hotel, in conjunction with the Marketing, Sales and Events Teams.
      • Develop, grow, sustain, maximise, and yield business across the corporate transient, group, and MICE segments to exceed budgeted revenue.
      • Build and maintain close working relationships with Marriott International’s Global Sales Team network to maximise business for W Sydney.
      • Develop and foster strong working relationships with (not limited to) key global, national, and local corporate clients for transient, group and events business.
      • Produce Weekly Sales Report and maintain a quarter calendar listing proposed calls as required.
      • Undertake and arrange Insider Tours and Familiarisation programs for clients across segmentations with strong potential to produce business for W Sydney (this may involve time outside of normal business working hours and familiarisation weekends).
      • Represent W Sydney and Marriott International at relevant functions, tradeshows, conventions, and events which may include interstate and overseas sales trips.
      • Participate in trade shows, conventions, and promotional events both within the hotel and those organised by industry domestically as directed by the DOS and signed off by the Director of Sales & Marketing and General Manager.
      • Identify, execute, and implement promotions, strategies, and special events within the sales client remit in conjunction with the Director of Sales and in line with brand standards and tone of voice.
      • Be fully versed across all relevant Marriott International loyalty programs to maximise business opportunities for W Sydney.
      • Provide a monthly corporate report which highlights sales actives for the previous month in addition to future actions and results for the Owner’s and GM Reports.
      • Attend all relevant meetings, ensuring active participation, timely follow up on action items and pro-active dissemination of relevant communication points back to the department.
      • Ensure that you maintain clear and detailed files in CI/TY including all relevant client information and activities.
      • Be able to work under pressure with the focus on achieving W Sydney’s performance metrics.
      • Ensure recovery calls/responses are dealt with in an appropriate manner and in accordance with brand teachings.
      • Taking a proactive approach to sales and being a dynamic sales leader with a minimum of 10-12 sales appointments achieved per week.
      • Exhibit exceptional customer service with the ability to build and maintain quality relationships with clients.
      • Respond to client queries within 24 hours of initial contact.
      • Support the Marketing team on attendance of, and promotion to, clients to W events and programming which are scheduled in line with the annual marketing plan and expectations of the W brand team. These will be on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis to enable both brand and PR goals to be met.
      • Work in conjunction with the Director of Revenue and Director of Sales & Marketing to ensure all Marriott International programs and systems are fully maximised
      • Be an early adopter and champion for innovation, as the W brand has been since inception, to deliver and exceed budgeted revenues for the hotel, channel engagement and enhanced guest experience.

      TALENT PROFILE

      Education & Experience Required

      • Higher Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Business Management and/or Hotel/Tourism Management.
      • Minimum two years’ experience in a hotel sales environment required.
      • Possess excellent verbal and written communication and Microsoft Office skills, and a strong attention to detail.
      • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strong time management, interpersonal and leadership skills.
