  Job Description

  The Electrical Section Engineer is a 2.13.3.1 appointment in terms of the MHS Act and is responsible to provide operational service and support to the Resident Engineer.

  Job responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Ensuring adherence to site-specific and overall Anglo American standards.
  • Multi-disciplinary team management
  • Strategic Asset management including planned maintenance and common reliability practices
  • Safety Management
  • Labour structure and training management
  • Effective Budgeting Controls (OPEX and CAPEX)
  • Management of Major shutdowns
  • Oversee open pit electrical projects (within limit of authority)
  • Ensuring adherence to Legal compliance
  • Manage open pit electrical rotables and spares
  • Carry out 1st ,2nd and 3rd line maintenance.

  This role is at a Band 6 level reporting to the Resident Engineer.

  Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering Degree / Diploma
  • Government Certificate of competency in Mines and Works – Electrical
  • Medium voltage certification – advantageous

  Experience, Knowledge and Skills

  • Five years post Engineering qualification experience
  • Three years appointed in electrical section
  • Knowledge/experience in overhead power lines and medium voltage equipment
  • Proficient in computer literacy – Microsoft office
  • Proficiency in English
