Job Description

- Serve as a senior associate with the monthly, quarterly and annual close process for ensuring all financial information is accurately reflected in the general ledger in compliance with GAAP.
- Perform account reconciliations and investigate significant variance or unexpected results and maintain appropriate support.
- Prepare, review, and upload journal entries (JEs), including supporting schedules; partner with stakeholders to streamline and automate JE preparation workflows where possible.
- Review and assess exception reports from both a quantitative and qualitative perspective and investigate key variances and unexpected results.
- Assist with preparing documents and responding to requests from the Company’s external auditor and internal SOX team as necessary.
- Own and continuously improve departmental procedures and documentation; identify, recommend, and implement operational efficiency opportunities.
- Lead meetings with internal teams which include various levels of management to develop understanding and agreement of account balances specific to their departments. Ensure that accruals are recorded, and balances are maintained within GAAP guidelines.
- Update the general ledger system adding, changing, or deleting accounts, cost centers or locations as directed.
- Provide financial analyses, support, and expertise relative to quarterly reviews and annual independent audits, and other external audits or consulting engagements as well as serve as a liaison between Finance and the organization as related to profit and loss statement questions, requests and issues.
- Utilize Microsoft Excel and other tools (e.g., Power Query/Power Automate) to streamline accounting processes, enhance data accuracy, reduce manual effort, and improve supporting documentation; implement new technologies within General Accounting to optimize workflows.
- Provide training and guidance to new General Accounting staff members.
- Participate in special projects, as directed by the Accounting Manager. Perform other special duties requiring independent judgment and skills.
- Other ad hoc responsibilities as required.

- Passion for continuous process improvement, clear/consistent documentation, and application of AI/automation tools to reduce manual work.
- CPA designation or CPA track preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance or related degree.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in public or private accounting or finance. Public accounting / audit experience with desire to obtain CPA license preferred but not necessary.
- Experience and advanced proficiency in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with Power BI, Power Automate, Power Query, and Copilot preferred but not required.
- Experience with general ledger and financial reporting systems. Experience specifically with NetSuite, D365, and AS400 preferred but not required.
- Advanced understanding of US GAAP.
- Experience with multiple entity / subsidiary organizations and intercompany transactions preferred.
- Remote working environment with extensive computer use.
- Travel generally not required.
- Evening/weekend work may be required during the close process to adhere to company-driven deadlines.

The Senior Accountant is responsible for assisting with the period end close process and other routine accounting functions. This includes preparing account reconciliations, investigating variances or unexpected results, preparing, and posting journal entries and working with others to find creative solutions to challenges and issues. This role will involve partnering with other teams in the accounting and finance department including Treasury, Financial Planning and Analysis, Payroll, Tax and other Covetrus subsidiaries to process intercompany transactions as well as perform audit controls with internal and external audit. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently when appropriate and exercise sound judgement when assignments have been delegated.

Sales Positions are eligible for a Variable Incentive.
The pay range for this position is as follows:
