      The role

      The Associate of Inorganic Strategy will help execute eBay global inorganic strategy, to unlock value and drive significant new growth opportunities globally.

      Reporting to the Principal Inorganic strategy, the Associate will partner cross-functionally with Strategy, Analytics, Corporate Development, CVC, Product & Engineering, Markets, Marketing, and other teams, to build business cases and support in inorganic strategy execution.

      This role provides a unique opportunity to gain a deep understanding of eBay, its ecosystem, and to support development and implementation of inorganic strategy and related transactions ranging from strategic investments and the related commercial deal, to smaller tech and talent tuck-ins, to larger scale M&A. The level of exposure will allow the Associate to develop close working relationships with the leaders at eBay, and can be an effective springboard for other operational roles at eBay.

      Key Responsibilities:

      • Work with other team members to frame strategic inorganic themes for eBay
      • Conduct market research, synthesize findings, and work with senior team members to propose recommendations that help deliver on company and verticals’ strategy
      • Identify, evaluate, and develop inorganic opportunities based on insights, aligning with eBay’s business goals and strategic priorities
      • Conduct rigorous valuation analyses and modeling (business and strategy assessment, outside-in opportunity assessment, financial modelling, etc.) to evaluate and recommend transaction opportunities
      • Partner with other teams, e.g., Corporate Development, on pipeline execution (DD, financial analysis, etc.), closing activities and post-close monitoring
      • Present findings / insights to senior management

      Job Requirements:

      • 4+ years of work experience, incl. in investment banking or strategy consulting, preferably in the technology and/or media sectors
      • Strong financial analysis, valuation and modeling skills
      • Ability to customize and apply financial and strategic frameworks
      • Excellent analytic, problem solving, and communication skills coupled with a strong work ethic
      • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills, including the ability to create succinct and structured executive-level presentations
      • Curiosity for new business models and innovations in the consumer digital space
      • Proven ability to think creatively and strategically while handling complex issues
      • Excellent ability to organize, synthesize, and present information
