      Our Bakkavor business in Bo’ness, based near Falkirk, specialises in the production of fresh, high quality salad products working with one of our key strategic premium retailers. To give a feel for the scale of manufacturing in Bo’ness we produce over 70 million salad based meals and side dishes from our 2 manufacturing facilities employing over 1200 people locally.

      The Role.


      A fantastic opportunity for a Senior Financial Controller to partner with our Bo’ness manufacturing site. As a key member of the site leadership and sector finance teams you will be responsible for:

      • Partnering with the site General Manager to deliver the operational financial plan for a £100m turnover, multi-factory site.
      • Input into the development and delivery of functional and business objectives.
      • The financial conscience of the site ensuring good financial decisions are taken in all areas of the business.
      • Leading the site finance team in operating a strong financial control framework, delivering against all internal and external reporting requirements.
      • A senior member of the finance community in the Bakkavor group, striving to adopt and share best practice at all times.

      Key Accountabilities.

      • Business Strategy – Actively contribute to the creation and update of the business strategy. Identify gaps between the strategy and the organisational plans. Create business model of the strategy.
      • Financial Control - To provide overall business and financial control and support to the Business operating as part of the Site Leadership Team
      • Performance Reporting - To ensure that there is clear and accurate financial performance reporting in place (daily / weekly / monthly) and that Site Leadership Team fully understands the financial performance of their business. Ensure that there are corrective action plans in place to drive and deliver the business performance required. Challenge existing practices to minimise risk and maximise delivery.
      • Rolling Forecast - To champion the rolling forecast process ensuring a realistic forecast of business performance based on clear and aligned assumptions along with an assessment of the business risks and opportunities.
      • IS Champion - To act as the IS champion and ensure appropriate business solutions to support performance improvement & delivery. Ensure IS risks are understood.
      • Cash Champion - Responsible for the management of the working capital of the business, ensuring that suitable processes are in place to optimise working capital. Ensure that the Site Leadership Team understand and react to the cash position of the Business.
      • Investments – Ensure that capital and non capital investments are robustly appraised and are consistent with the business plan. Post Capital Review’s are completed.
      • People Management – To lead the Finance function and to recruit, lead, motivate and inspire direct reports to achieve personal development and continual improvement goals. Ensure the organisation structure is developed and that talented people are recruited / retained.

      About you.

      • Professional Accountancy Qualification (preferably CIMA).
      • Experience of working in a fast -paced manufacturing business.
      • Experience of business partnering in a multi-functional environment.
      • Great inter-personal skills – able to build effective relationships with individuals at all levels of the business.
      • The ability to operate in an autonomous role on an autonomously run site – making decisions as required but knowing when to escalate or seek guidance and support.
      • Ability to drive cultural change to true value led operational finance business partnering.
      • Strong commercial acumen with clear and measurable successes in current and prior roles.
      • Ambassador for the Bakkavor values and to champion an inclusive culture.
      • Please note this is a hybrid role so will require on site presence for a minimum of 3 days a week.
