      Job summary

      Applications are invited for this post, based at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital (RMCH), for the clinical management of paediatric gastroenterology disorders. The Paediatric Gastroenterology service at RMCH, provides specialist services like intestinal failure, inflammatory bowel disease and other upper and lower GI disorders. The Fellowship post is for initial period of 12 months which is extendable depending on performance.

      The Fellow will gain clinical experience in paediatric gastroenterology and nutrition and endoscopy. He/she will play a key role in the management of gastroenterology patients, with responsibility for inpatient and outpatient care. In addition, the post holder will be expected to participate in quality improvement projects (QIP), audit and gastroenterology research.

      Each doctor will have a named Educational Supervisor Study / exam leave together with financial support available for suitable study courses on request.

      Main duties of the job

      1. Management gastroenterology inpatients
      2. Undertaking outpatient clinics under supervision
      3. Undertaking ward rounds
      4. Supporting management of gastroenterology patients admitted in the day case unit
      5. Be part of on call rota for paediatrics at Royal Manchester Children's Hospital
      6. Taking part in continuous professional development activities
      7. Undertaking quality improvement projects and protocol development
      8. Appraisal at start and at the end of 12 months tenure
