- Assist the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO), IT Infrastructure Director, and Network Manager with wireline and wireless network communications, cyber security strategy, and operational execution.
- Research best practices, trends, and other factors in voice and data networks, communications infrastructure, and connectivity methods and models supporting digital transformation.
- Design and implement networks.
- Assists in developing broadband strategies and supports associated initiatives.
- Evaluates balance for effectiveness and risk for external ‘cloud’ solutions and internal network management solutions.
- Monitors internal and external network performance and cyber breach risk,
- Consults regularly with the CISO on all matters related to network and communications cyber security, tools, priorities, progress, and related issues; recommends appropriate action.
- Participates in the development and execution of OIT COOP and Continuity of Government (COG); responds to network outages timely.
- Periodically checks the status of IT ticket and project requests related to network communications and access requirements.
- Researches, provides input, and serves as project manager and point person on priority and complex projects concerning communications infrastructure and integration with host data centers and cloud services providers.
- Stays abreast of IT industry trends for the Internet, broadband, voice and data network and cyber security matters.
- Supports CIO as SME in assessing the impact of new legislation related to communications and network access.
- May serve on committees and task teams; interfaces with regional peers and supports regional and state interconnection networks.
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or a closely related field; plus four (4) years of experience in an Information Technology Engineering field with substantial experience in network design, implementation, troubleshooting, configuration, network firewall/routers/switches in which at least two (2) years must have involved lead/supervisory duties.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

This is senior-level lead administrative, professional, and technical engineering work creating, implementing, and maintaining the County's enterprise technical infrastructure resources.
Work is completed with a great deal of independence in overseeing the work of consultant workforce and leading tasks completed by subordinate technology engineers, and in designing, installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining network, telecommunications, or systems hardware and software; analyzing hardware and software failures; analyzing connectivity, and monitoring systems and networks to ensure availability to all users; performing necessary maintenance to support network, telecommunications, or systems availability; and developing and implementing information security policies.
The incumbent should have technical knowledge that is effectively applied to the County's enterprise technical infrastructure to handle the most challenging and complex issues involving the network infrastructure, and/or train/lead lower level subordinates through basic processes.What You'll Do :
• Experience as a lead Network Engineer
• At least 3 years of proven experience using Forescout NAC or Cisco ISE
• Possess a Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Certification
• Network experience that includes cyber security operations.
Must be willing to respond to service calls after normal business hours.
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
May be required to complete tasks that require lifting equipment, kneeling, bending, etc.About the company
