Overview We are seeking a full-time Senior Product Designer for the Garmin Labs team our office in Olathe, KS. In this role, you will be responsible for designing with expertise in all aspects of user-centered design to produce and give direction to others for the best design solutions. Essential Functions Performs as a design leader who guides design direction for multiple projects and takes responsibility for project planning to ensure timely project completion Makes substantial contributions to determining feasibility of project goals/objectives Partners with engineers, developers, product managers and management to determine and execute on requirements Serves as the subject matter expert for a key feature or technology and communicates best practices for user experience for that feature Researches and independently provides solutions for problems that span multiple groups or disciplines Conducts final review and creative sign-off of go live materials to ensure high quality Prepares, executes, and presents User Research, utilizing qualitative and quantitative analysis tools Contributes to advanced product research by identifying market opportunities, embedding with customers, and formulating solid solutions from research results Provides input to product design plans and concept documents and applies good judgment in setting schedules weighing risk-to-reward Serves as a mentor to less experienced Product Designers Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Interactive Design, Human Factors, Visual Design or a degree with an equivalent curriculum that teaches user centered design principles AND a minimum of 5 years relevant work experience Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) Expert experience designing user interfaces (UI) using Figma, expert level experience in Adobe Photoshop, and experience creating high quality custom vector assets using Adobe Illustrator Proven track record with leading design direction for multiple projects, and ensuring effective project planning leads to timely completion of project goals/objectives Experience designing for native mobile OS utilizing Apple HiG and Android Material paradigms (mobile app design) Proficient application of design and usability principles Excellent user interface and graphic design with the ability to create custom assets and/or utilize existing native designs and systems Career- experience designing user flows and wireframes (resulting in several hundred production-ready pages and screens) Desired Qualifications Experience working in startups, boutique agencies, or small game studios Working knowledge of Unity, Blender and Maya Experience designing for interactive content and environments, ex. 3D/AR and gamification.
