      Job summary

      To support the Matron in the delivery of the highest standards of care to patients attending the department. The role will require management, supervision and co-ordination of nursing activities within the departments. The individual will provide a visible , accessible and authoritative presence in the department to whom, staff, patients and their family's can seek assistance, advice and support.

      To provide high quality patient services and care to the patients within the Haematology Directorate. The Haematology directorate within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (STHFT) provides comprehensive specialist services Oncology, Haemostasis & Thrombosis and Red Cell Service for the management of patients, including the provision of inpatient and outpatient care and diagnostic services.

      The Haematology unit is a busy environment that provides efficient and effective inpatient, day case care and Ambulatory care to patients across South Yorkshire and beyond. The Haematology Ward P3/4 includes the current pathway for Haematology emergency patients requiring treatment, along with providing care for patients undergoing stem cell transplants, CAR-T, intensive chemotherapy and caring for patients with other Haematological disorders.

      Main duties of the job

      To develop and provide a service to patients within the scope of professional practice and support to nursing and medical colleagues within the Haematology department.

      To lead a team of qualified and support team members.

      To take charge of the department.

      Promote high quality care, ensuring individual patients needs are assessed, care planned, implemented and evaluated regularly.

      To deliver clinical care to patients.
