      Purpose

      Assist the Process Superintendent - Isaconvert in the direction and control of the day to day operations of the Isaconvert - Furnace, Feed System & Preparation, Ingots Casting and Waste Heat Boiler and associated off gas system.

      Key Responsibilities

      This position will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function

      • Ensure that the feed blend to the Isaconvert™ furnace is correctly calculated and maintained within specified parameters
      • Ensure that the furnace products, blister, slag and offgas, are within the required control ranges.
      • Maximise the furnace throughput as per design
      • Supervise the Isaconvert™ Shift Contollers.
      • Manage furnace refractory wear.
      • Manage the furnace Copper Coolers Integrity.
      • Should get familiarized with process flow sheet, OEM operating manuals, design data of all relevant equipment.
      • Monitor and assess the efficiency of routine work practices on the Isaconvert furnace™, waste heat boiler and associated off gas train, and develop and implement changes as appropriate.
      • Liase closely with counterparts on Primary Smelting, Oxygen/Utilities Plants and Acid Plants.
      • Liase with the Technical Supt in the Primary Smelting Section and assist with the implementation of new developments
      • Liase closely with maintenance team for day to day smooth running of the plant and during monthly & annual plant shutdowns
      • Report on plant performance to the Superintendent and others.
      • Assist in identifying operational problems and assist in solving them
      • Assist with the preparation of the annual throughput, and cost budget for the section in collaboration with shift controllers, metallurgists and counterparts in other sections.
      • Monitor plant operations and ensure operating procedures are strictly followed.
      • Provide training and development opportunities for all direct reports on an ongoing basis.
      • Assist in the cold and hot commissioning of the, Isaconvert™ furnace, Feed System, WHB and associated off gas train and ingot casting.
      • Other duties as directed by the Supervisor

      Qualifications

      • Bachelor of Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering or Equivalent
      • EIZ and/or ERB

      Experience

      • At least 5 years of supervisory experience in copper smelting, in particular with Anodes Furnaces and Casting, Isasmelt furnaces, Waste Heat Boilers, copper casting and associated off gas collection equipment. Any Prior knowledge on the Isaconvert will be an advantage.
