Service Transition Manager Profile Description
The Service Transition Manager is responsible for driving operational readiness activities relating to people, processes and software landscape in support of new capability launch, enhancements to existing capabilities and technology, or continuous improvements to realize complete value of operational benefits, supportability, and maintainability by Business and IT Production Operation functions
The Service Transition Manager will partner with Program and Project Managers, Business Project Team, Software Technology Leads, Third-party Vendors, and External Stakeholders to help define IT Operational model, as well as ensuring proper capabilities are in place for Production Maintainability and Supportability
The Service Transition team partners with the Business and IT Production organizations as well as external entities in order to prepare all affected parties for the change. This includes training and coaching has been provided, ensuring new or modified processes are communicated and maintain as well as IT Production Support team and Maintenance teams are ready to support the new software technology rollout
As part of continuous improvement and maturing Group ITs Production Operation Readiness function, the individual will have opportunity to participate in practice building, help define processes and artifacts
Responsibilities
Responsible for evaluating initiatives to determine appropriate Release Readiness aspects required based on the nature of initiative to prepare Business, IT, and external entities be prepared of the change or new capability being rolled out
Responsible for partnering with Program Leads, Project Managers, Business Analysts and Software Technical Leads to understand the capabilities, benefits, expected business process change, and software capabilities being rolled out to help define operational model or updates to existing operational model
Responsible for working with Group ITs Production Services and Software Maintenance teams to identify the required artifacts including job aids for effective monitoring, assessing, troubleshoot and maintenance of software systems in production
Responsible for developing a support manual that can be used as a guidelines for Quickly identifying the software and infrastructure components involved in the flow for each functionality, troubleshooting issues, engagement approach for various teams and their SLAs
Responsible for working with Software Technical Leads, Solution Architects, and Solution Subject Matters to identify opportunities to improve operational and supportability model as part of continuous improvement and maturing Groups Production Operation function
Responsible for planning, resourcing, and facilitating demonstration of capabilities and software as well as ensuring proper knowledge transfer of new software and operational model to Group ITs Production Services and Software Maintenance teams
Responsible for partnering with Production Services to monitor the stability and performance of production environment after major releases and provides insight to future releases for any improvement opportunities
Partner with Business team to identify the training and communication needs and tracks them to the closure
Monitors post production operations to refine and improve the Release Readiness processes
Facilitates project gating process and tracks completion of all required deliverables for Release Readiness
Responsible for developing and managing the Release Readiness activities in Agile SAFe tools (preferably CA Rally)
Qualifications
7-8 years release management or production readiness within a diverse and complex IT landscape consisting of web based apps, mainframe apps, windows and UNIX platforms
Excellent presentation and communication skills
Sound business and technical acumen
Enthusiastic advocate for change
Ability to navigate a highly matrix organization effectively
Demonstrates strong ability to be effective in negotiation and influential leadership
Focused and versatile team player that is comfortable under pressure
Ability to communicate at all levels with clarity and precision both written and verbally
Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills
Demonstrated experience working on large integrated programs
Able to shape/change processes
Results-oriented, diligent and works with a sense of urgency
Assertive, responsible for his/her own work (self-directed), has a strong affinity for defining deliverables, and willing to commit to deadlines
Ability to identify and implement required actions quickly in order to accomplish goals, eliminate roadblocks, and create focus
