      The Role:

      • Develop, provide and evaluate a social work service for patients of the Launceston General Hospital (LGH) and their families as part of a multidisciplinary team.

      Note: - Please refer to the Statement of Duties for all the selection criteria of this position to address in your application.

      The Department of Social Work provides psychosocial intervention to patients, their families, and carers accessing Hospitals North. This position will be rotational across acute, sub-acute and outpatient areas, working alongside a multidisciplinary team. It provides the opportunity for the incumbent to build upon their existing assessment, advocacy and counselling skills under the guidance of a Senior Practitioner.

      The Department of Social Work commits to working from a trauma-informed approach to practice, and provides a comprehensive orientation program, supervision framework, staff wellbeing program and professional development opportunities.

      Details of Appointment

      Permanent, full time, day worker position working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible

      *notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant

      • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

      Salary: $69,117 to $104,493 per annum + 11% superannuation + access to salary packaging

      • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

      Eligibility:

      Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

      1. Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
      2. Eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
      3. Overseas qualified Social Work candidates require a “certification of eligibility” letter from the AASW to confirm their eligibility for membership to the AASW Or where regulatory requirements exist, NDIS Q&S Commission Provider Registration Requirements
      4. Full member of Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)

      The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

      1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
      1. crimes of violence
      2. sex related offences
      3. serious drug offences
      4. crimes involving dishonesty
