      Job summary

This is a new post for a specialty doctor in adult neurodevelopmental services, reporting to the consultant psychiatrist in service and supporting a multi-disciplinary team.

This is an important post supporting the dedicated consultant input into Adult Neurodevelopmental services. Currently the Primary activities involve ADHD transitions reviews (for patients leaving CAMHS and up to the age of 25, with an NHS diagnosis from CAMHS or as an Adult up to the age of 25), as well as new assessments for patients reviewed by the Neurodevelopmental team and strongly felt to have ADHD. The main responsibilities of the role will be to provide the following:

      • Support the assessment, diagnosis and supervision of management for Individuals who have been referred as likely to have ADHD by the Adult Neurodevelopmental team, to confirm and manage the condition or find an alternative diagnosis and refer onwards appropriately. This is for Adults 17 years and upwards.
      • To assist with reviews of ADHD transitions patients alongside the transitions nurse, this is for patients with a pre-existing CAMHS or NHS adult services diagnosis of ADHD up to the age of 25.
      • To assist with CTR reviews for patients with complexity who also have a comorbid ASD diagnosis.
      • To aid with teaching and training of wider services in the areas of ADHD and ASD to improve awareness and readiness to manage the conditions if they present to other services, including primary care.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
