      The Derivatives Strategies & Trading Sr. Director is responsible for structuring and executing derivatives strategies for the purpose of hedging and yield enhancement across asset classes for internal and institutional clients. While working in close partnership with the Nuveen Global Fixed Income investment team and the private side of the business, this role assists the head of the Derivatives Desk with all aspects of the business, from operational processes and audit/compliance to the structuring and trading of FX and derivatives products.


      Key Responsibilities and Duties

      • Structures and executes derivatives strategies for hedging and yield enhancement across asset classes, including interest rate swaps, total return swaps, bond forwards, cross currency swaps, inflation swaps, interest rate and FX options, structured credit (e.g. CDX tranches), and FX swaps.

      • Supports the head of the Derivatives Desk across all aspects of the business, spanning operational processes, audit and compliance, and product structuring and trading.

      • Partners closely with the Nuveen Global Fixed Income investment team as well as Private Placements, Real Estate, Real Assets, and the TIAA General Account.

      • Develops a clear understanding of all hedging-related activity across Nuveen's business, including the roles, responsibilities, and workflows of internal business teams and external service providers.

      • Liaises with portfolio management and distribution to communicate derivatives and hedge performance.

      • Drives derivatives-related strategy work in partnership with NEFI Investor Relations, with a focus on operationally sustainable recommendations aligned with desired business outcomes.

      • Leads the administration and development of frameworks, socialization, and overall processes for evaluating new derivatives opportunities.

      Required Qualifications:

      • Minimum of 3+ years of experience in derivatives trading, structuring, and/or sales, with demonstrated knowledge of derivatives product structuring and pricing, including swaps and options.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • 5-10 years of experience derivatives trading, structuring, and/or sales, with demonstrated knowledge of derivatives product structuring and pricing, including swaps and options.
      • Demonstrated experience with Bloomberg (including BBG AIM), Murex, Charles River, and electronic FX trading platforms such as FXGO, FX Connect, and FXall.
      • Strong quantitative and analytical skills with a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
      • Proven ability to lead and drive complex projects, such as new product rollouts and onboarding of third-party mandates, to successful completion.
      • Background in computer science, mathematics, or engineering.
      • Strong leadership presence with a demonstrated track record of teamwork, ethics, and personal accountability.

      Base Pay Range: $160,000/yr - $224,000/yr

      Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary incentive programs, non-annual sales incentive plans, or other non-annual incentive plans).
