Provides coaching and support for students within the school that have been identified as benefiting from additional outreach and coaching to enhance their engagement and success.
Leverages motivational interviewing techniques to influence positive behavior change in students.
Facilitates o nboarding sessions designed to welcome students to the School of Business and inform them of key policies and strategies that will enhance their educational success.
Proactively provides outreach to students identified as lacking the confidence for getting started during onboarding, as well as those that lack consistent engagement in their studies that may be impacting progress and overall success.
Empathetically provide s encouragement, reinforce positive behaviors and celebrate milestones of identified students for outreach .
Connects students with the appropriate WGU and School of Business department and resources t o support ongoing academic engagement and educational success.
Collaborates within the team of Success Coaches, supporting teammates and providing input on opportunities for improvement.
Embraces WGU Leadership Principles with a high emphasis on learning, courage, and student obsession.
Responds with urgency to meet student needs and communicates professionally and respectfully with students and all other members of the WGU community.
Offers timely support and outreach to students, including meeting service level agreements as outlined by their department.
Analyze and inter pre t data to effectively improve student success and team productivity.
Assist students with various student process , policies and systems , and solve for any administrative problems or barriers that occur.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Establish empathy, active listening, optimism, and caring about others' success.
Demonstrate high-energy and enthusiasm to support virtual group sessions.
Create strong rapport and communications abilities, using a variety of modalities .

Work is performed independently on moderately complex projects and assignments with some guidance required for direction and complex tasks. Sets objectives for oneself to meet the goals of projects or assignments.
Responsible for employing adjustments or recommended enhancements to systems and processes to solve problems or improve the job area’s effectiveness while leveraging a systems-thinking approach.
Problems faced may require an understanding of a broader set of issues and job areas.
Collaborates with contacts typically within the job area to obtain or provide information requiring some explanation or interpretation.

Demonstrate s the WGU leadership principles in all aspects of service to students, employees , and partners of WGU.
Master’s degree and 2+ years of related experience, or an advanced degree without experience.
Demonstrated Experience facilitating , presenting, or teaching in a remote online environment .
Experience supporting adult learners in distance learning environments.
Demonstrated experience working with at-risk learners.
Familiarity with Salesforce or other customer relationship management tools .
Ability to work a student-friendly schedule including evenings/weekends.
ICF, NBC-HWC, or other nationally accredited coaching certifications
2+ years mentoring experience.
Working Conditions – Specific requirements of the job such as travel and the environment in which the job is performed.
One year of professional working experience in a high-volume coaching center serving clients remotely OR Minimum one year employed at WGU AND satisfactory/advanced proficiency with motivational interviewing that is demonstrated consistently for at least six months .
Two years professional experience teaching or facilitating groups OR demonstrated satisfactory/advanced proficiency delivering social emotional learning curriculum consistently for at least six months .
Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.

Job Profile Summary :
The Student Success Coach ’s primary mission is to support the School of Business faculty with advancing student persistence , retention , and graduation by providing personalized stu dent support ser vices that enhance continuous engagement and academic success . As a Student Success Coach, you engage directly with faculty and students in the school by providing specialized coaching support that help s students develop the confidence, study habits, emotional well - being, and resiliency skills to be successful throughout their program of study and beyond . As a Student Success Coach, you will provide targeted outreach to students who m ay face struggles in college – and provide an additional layer of support alongside t heir assigned faculty member to promote continued engagement and persistence toward graduation . As part of the community of care, y our coaching can be the "difference mak e r " through the support you provide guid ing students in overcoming obstacles and eventually graduat ing . You will guide them one-on-one and in group settings as they progress in their degree , engaging in coaching sessions that increase their likelihood of success. You will earn their trust and set clear expectations as you work with each one to become a successful college student and future graduate.

At WGU, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their position, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is:
