      Overview/Purpose:

      GQ is looking for a Style/Service Editor to create content that provides useful info on how to live a more stylish life. This person will write and assign style, grooming, and wellness stories primarily for the web and newsletters, but may work across all platforms including print, video, podcast, events, etc. as needed. They will work with GQ’s audience development and commerce team to strategically identify topic areas that are ripe for audience growth, while finding unique and creative ways to cover those topics.

      The ideal candidate will be well-versed in SEO and conversations happening on social media; possess a clear, distinctive voice; and have a rolodex of similarly stylish expert writers. They should have experience writing and editing for a digital publication, assigning to a budget, and programming coverage to key moments on the editorial calendar. This role reports to GQ’s Site Director.

      Responsibilities include:

      • Writing, assigning, and editing while maintaining weekly story lineups in order to post several stories a day on GQ.com

      • Working closely with Audience Development, SEO, Newsletter and Commerce teams to leverage audience insights to develop ongoing content strategy

      • Coordinating the optimization and updating of evergreen content

      • Attending and contributing ideas to regular editorial meetings, including the daily editorial stand-up

      • Contribute original content across platforms as needed (e.g. newsletters, print, video, podcasts, events, etc.)

      • Contribute to consumer-driven content initiatives as needed

      • Additional duties as assigned

      Desired Skills & Qualifications:

      • 4-6+ years previous experience as an editor or writer covering fashion, style, grooming, and wellness

      • Strong line-editing skills, editorial judgment, and editorial voice

      • Experience assigning to freelance and staff writers

      • Deep understanding of SEO best practices and digital media publishing strategies

      • Ability to manage and execute multiple projects and deadlines seamlessly

      • Experience working with data analytics and content management systems

      • Enthusiasm for GQ’s editorial point of view, and deep interest in exploring new and innovative opportunities for editorial growth

      • Interest and expertise in men’s style, fashion, and grooming

      The expected base salary range for this position is from $65,000 - $105,000. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including but not limited to relevant skills, training, experience, and education.
