  takealot.com, a leading South African online retailer, is looking for a Junior Supplier Operations Manager to join our Takealot Supplier Business team in Cape Town.

  This position reports to the Head of Supplier Business

  Your responsibilities will include:

  • Be the central contact point for all Supplier Operational matters, communication and escalations in support of Takealot Retail Supplier Operations.
  • Weekly analysis and reporting on supplier operational performance across all operational SLA’s, and implementation of corrective action where required.
  • Analyse supplier operations to identify continuous process improvement initiatives across all aspects of supplier operations.
  • Manage all suppliers on the operational tiering framework and performance scorecards and intervene where and when required.
  • Manage weekly, monthly review of high return products, analyse performance of products with high defective returns, manage exceptions and claims with suppliers.
  • Design and implement internal SOP’s to provide solutions aimed at reducing the time and effort that Retail buying teams spend in solving supplier operational issues.
  • Develop an improved supplier onboarding processes which decrease friction, increases uptake and reduces contacts
  • Own the return to supplier process and ensure timeous and efficient movement of good and bad inventory from Takealot Distribution Centres back to suppliers.
  • Control and manage disputes with suppliers on defective returns, investigate bad inventory batches, and report back to suppliers on quality non-conformance.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain teams to ensure business best in class supplier management principles and processes are followed.
  • Collaborate with Content Team to design educational content to increase speed to excellence of all new suppliers as well as ongoing training of existing supplier base.
  • Consult with suppliers to ensure end to end best in class operational process design and thinking.
  • Own the supplier experience by collaborating with the Product Team to identify, design, and train on Supplier Portal improvements.

  Qualification & Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in supply chain / logistics operational environment
  • BTech (Supply Chain/ Operations/ Logistics Management/ Management) or Bachelor’s degree (Supply Chain/ Operations/ Logistics Management/ Management)
  • Proven experience and passion for working across functions across various business levels, synthesizing multiple points of view and owning a coherent action plan, all while negotiating and influencing others
