- Evaluating classification practices across brands and products (long-form and short-form video content, articles, slideshows, and more) and recommending solutions to unify into a broader enterprise content classification taxonomy
- Assisting in the creation and evolution of the enterprise content classification taxonomy
- Performing a comprehensive audit of pre-defined genres in multiple title systems as well as commonly used freeform tags
- Collaborating with business units and vendors during data onboarding to assist with mapping exercises to align with the enterprise content classification taxonomy, and/or assisting brands with adoption of the enterprise content classification taxonomy
- Assisting in the creation and evolution of other enterprise taxonomies to support business enablement and revenue opportunities across domains, such as legal, finance, human resources, and ad sales
- Developing taxonomy governance policies, processes, guidelines, best practices, recommendations, training materials, and workflows for taxonomy adoption and maintenance
- 3+ years of primary experience in taxonomy or metadata operations, preferably with media content in a large organization
- Experience working successfully with stakeholders and partner teams to translate individual BU & enterprise classification needs into taxonomy requirements
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize efforts based on business value
- Understanding of metadata, taxonomy & ontology industry standards and best practices
- BA/BS in technical or quantitative discipline (MLIS preferred), or significant relevant work experience
- A great storyteller and communicator, and can build relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders
- Experience with taxonomy/ontology tools preferred
- Ability to collaborate and work in partnership with different parts of the organization
- Combination of technical skill sets and business savvy to interface with all levels of the organization
- Ability to work independently, multitask, and drive your own projects

NBCUniversal is looking for a detail-oriented taxonomist to support classification efforts for enterprise initiatives across domains such as content, legal, finance, human resources, and ad sales.
The Taxonomy Specialist will be responsible for evaluating classification models across brands within the NBCU portfolio and assisting in the creation of an enterprise content classification taxonomy, mapping brand and sub-brand values to the enterprise model. Secondarily, the taxonomist will assist in establishing controlled vocabularies for a number of enterprise initiatives, including consumer attributes, contract rights, video metadata, business glossaries, and more.

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
