      Position Summary

      Under the general direction of the TRIO SSS Director, the TRIO SSS Outreach Associate will provide and monitor participant services for the TRIO Student Support Services Program.

      Duties and Responsibilities:

      • Serve as the TRIO SSS Outreach Associate by identifying, planning, developing, and coordinating the participant services of the TRIO Student Support Services Program throughout the academic year
      • Identify and select TRIO SSS Participants; provide programmatic services, including referrals, to TRIO SSS Participants; monitor TRIO SSS Participants’ progress
      • Contact and provide intervention services to assigned TRIO SSS Participants
      • Develop TRIO SSS Participant documentation; document all TRIO SSS Participant contacts, programmatic services, and activities
      • Update TRIO SSS Participant records to reflect updated academic and career objectives
      • Maintain confidential FERPA-compliant program files on all TRIO SSS Participants, activities, and services provided; maintain accurate data for project records
      • Participate in evaluating, improving, and integrating program services. Assist in all other program activities and develop programmatic reports, as needed
      • Participate in the development of the Department of Education Annual Performance Report
      • Collaborate with others, including TRIO SSS and ENMU campus staff, to ensure effective project implementation. Maintain good rapport with students and Eastern New Mexico University personnel
      • Attend required meetings, trainings, and professional development; participate in committees, councils, and professional development activities, as assigned
      • Regular and predictable attendance is required
      • Perform other duties as assigned


      Minimum Job Requirements:

      Bachelor’s degree in education or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience, is required.


      Preferred:

      • Master’s degree
      • Strong background in accounting
      • Experience interacting with students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
      • Two years’ experience in college advising or mentoring
      • Experience with TRIO programs/disability services
      • Bilingual


      Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

      • Working knowledge of the practices, procedures, and activities necessary for the program to which assigned
      • Ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
      • Knowledge regarding career services
      • General knowledge of the principles of individual and group behavior
      • Ability to maintain sensitivity to the needs of economically disadvantaged students
      • Skilled in the use of standard office equipment: Computer, Copier, Scanner, etc.
      • Skilled in Microsoft Office and other applicable computer applications
      • Strong organizational and communication skills

      Physical Demand and Working Conditions:

      • Work is generally performed inside a non-smoking facility, during normal business hours. Some weekend and evening hours may be required.
      • Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a consistent amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects
      • Position requires continuous to frequent handling of paper materials
