- Lead complex technology initiatives including those that are companywide with broad impact
- Act as a key participant in developing standards and companywide best practices for engineering complex and large-scale technology solutions for technology engineering disciplines
- Design, code, test, debug, and document for projects and programs
- Review and analyze complex, large-scale technology solutions for tactical and strategic business objectives, enterprise technological environment, and technical challenges that require in-depth evaluation of multiple factors, including intangibles or unprecedented technical factors
- Make decisions in developing standard and companywide best practices for engineering and technology solutions requiring understanding of industry best practices and new technologies, influencing and leading technology team to meet deliverables and drive new initiatives
- Collaborate and consult with key technical experts, senior technology team, and external industry groups to resolve complex technical issues and achieve goals
- Lead projects, teams, or serve as a peer mentor
- Perform business configuration of Varicent through configuration components (data, calculations, reports, business flows)
- Create and/or maintain the Varicent model (parameters tables, etc.)
- Assist with managing reference data and payee information
- Configure business calculations in Varicent
- Build configurable process flows to support overall business process and approvals
- Assist with creating and/or maintaining Varicent end-user reports and incentive admin views
- Partner with Incentive Compensation Center Of Excellence incentive admins, Incentive Compensation Product Owner, and multiple product team members
- Participate in requirements gathering sessions, review user stories, and user acceptance criteria
- Assist with documentation to capture data flow diagrams, data definition documents, decision trees, logic diagrams, requirements documents, and user experience flows.
- Provide technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are cost effective and meet business requirements
- Apply knowledge of industry trends and technology to drive organizational change and position Wells Fargo for the future.
- 5+ years of Software Engineering experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 5+ years of technical design experience
- 5+ years of SDLC (System Development Life Cycle) experience
- 5+ years of experience with SAS or SQL, or other data management, reporting and query tools
- 4+ years of experience configuring imports, handling calculations, and building workflows in Varicent
- 3+ years of experience with scripting languages such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, Shell, VBScript, or JavaScript
- 2+ years of experience configuring and implementing Varicent
- 5+ years of HR SaaS implementation experience such as Workday, Oracle or SAP
- Agile / scrum experience
- Experience working with transaction-based incentive compensation plans
- Knowledge and understanding of automated workflows design
- Ability to implement a solution and communicate, in clear business terms, the benefits of the proposed risk management approach
- Ability to influence and build relationships with LOB stakeholders, technology CIO leadership, external service providers, and architecture teams
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
- Wells Fargo software engineering experience
- A BS/BA degree or higher in information technology
- Ability to work additional hours as needed
- Ability to work outside of regular business hours

This combined portfolio of applications and tools are continually engineered to meet the challenges of stability, security, scalability, and speed.
Human Resources Information Technology (HRIT) team provides technology support for team member focused applications and processes, including payroll, benefits, learning and recruiting. We are seeking Lead Software Engineer who will support applications that are used by Wells Fargo's 270,000+ employees, over 1 million external job seekers, and more than 4,000 HR professionals.
This is an exciting opportunity to help support Wells Fargo’s Human Resources transformation to deliver a new experience for our team through process and technology. As a Lead Software Engineer supporting the Incentive Compensation Product, this role will participate in an extensive mentorship program to obtain the skills to on-boarding Incentive Compensation plans into Varicent (IC Central). This work will occur through phases crossing a multi-year project implementation. Additional responsibility may include supporting the product team through collaborating with internal and external subject matter experts, system users, and stakeholders to understand proposed business processes, requirements, and system needs in order to design and implement the technical changes within the application.
This position requires onsite work in Charlotte, NC, Minneapolis, MN, or Chandler, AZ.
