      The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), a globally recognized academic and research institution, invites applications for the Vice President for Administration position.       Position Overview

      Reporting directly to the President and serving as a key member of the President’s Cabinet, the Vice President for Administration provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and institutional advocacy across a portfolio of core administrative functions. This role plays a critical part in balancing the administrative needs of the institution while strongly supporting UAB’s primary missions of instruction, research, and patient care.

      The Vice President will serve as a strategic partner in the development and execution of university-wide initiatives, working closely with senior leadership, academic and clinical partners, and external stakeholders.

      Key Areas of Responsibility

      • Strategic oversight and policy leadership for:
        • UAB Police
        • Human Resources
        • Title IX Compliance
        • Government Affairs
      • Sponsorship and administrative support for Compliance & Risk Assurance, which reports directly to the President
      • Lead long- and short-term administrative planning efforts in alignment with institutional goals and Board of Trustees directives
      • Cultivate a culture of excellence, integrity, and service that reflects UAB’s values and vision

      Qualifications

      • A bachelor's degree in business administration or a related field is required
      • A minimum of 10 years of progressive, high-level administrative leadership experience within a complex healthcare and/or university environment is required
      • Demonstrated experience building and leading high-performing teams, driving strategic initiatives, and managing institutional risk and compliance
      • Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
