      Summary:

      The Virtual Internship Specialist provides high school students with meaningful career exploration and readiness experiences across high-demand career clusters through project-based learning and virtual engagement. Designed to simulate a real-world work environment, the Virtual Internship Program enables students to develop and apply

      professional skills while completing industry-aligned projects, pursuing industry-recognized

      certifications, and producing a culminating capstone.

      This role facilitates weekly virtual sessions and delivers instruction focused on 21st-century

      skills and professional development, including communication, collaboration,

      problem-solving, and workplace readiness. The specialist monitors student progress,

      assesses project completion, and ensures alignment with program expectations and

      college and career readiness standards. They support the development and continuous

      improvement of program content and instructional materials to expand certification

      opportunities and enhance course offerings. The role also includes providing program

      updates and analyzing key performance indicators and trend data to develop

      recommendations that enhance student outcomes and drive continuous improvement.

      The Virtual Internship Specialist provides career counseling, coaching, and individualized

      support while maintaining consistent communication with students, families, and staff. This

      position plays a vital role in ensuring students are informed, prepared, and equipped to

      successfully navigate postsecondary opportunities.

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities
      • Oversee virtual internships using Schoology and zoom sessions
      • Facilitate weekly student meetings
      • Monitor and grade completion of project-based projects and capstones for virtual internship students
      • Create efficiencies within a multi-faceted and dynamic work environment
      • Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

      with students, parents, staff, and outside entities including but not limited to

      curriculum providers.
      • Assist in providing students with high-quality career exploration and guidance
      • Assist in providing student support through program and course completion
      • Analyze data and make program recommendations as appropriate
      • Promote the program through outreach and communication including, but not

      limited to, one-on-one and group student meetings, staff development, internal and

      external resources and communication campaigns
      • Understand the College and Career Readiness Department and support all

      initiatives
      • Provide career counseling, coaching, and advising as needed for high school

      students with career exploration planning
      • Review, develop, and update lessons annually aligned to virtual internship content
      • Ensure excellent communication to Epic stakeholders
      • Other duties as assigned

      Supervisory Responsibilities:

      Education and/or Experience
      • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university required
      • Experience working with High School Students is preferred but not required
      • Teaching certification preferred
      • Experience working in a Workforce Development program or comparable program
      • Experience engaging with others in a virtual environment preferred but not required
      • Proficiency with Zoom and Google Workspace preferred but not required
      • Proficiency with Schoology LMS a plus

      Language Skills

      Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.

      Mathematical Skills

      Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

      Reasoning Ability

      Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

      Computer Skills

      To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Google applications, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.Must have a high aptitude to learn new software as necessary for the business operations of the school.
