      Position Overview:

      As a Battery Room Technician, you will be responsible for the proper replacement of batteries from MHE equipment and any other battery-operated equipment within the facility. You will be responsible for the proper maintenance and cleaning of all reserve batteries, as well as the Material Transportation Co. Battery changing machines. You will be responsible for ensuring all repairs are documented and aligned with OSHA – state and federal policies as well as company policies, to drive a safe working environment and culture.

      RESPONSIBILITIES:

      • Replacing the batteries in MHE equipment, electric power tools, and hand tools
      • Use material handling equipment (center riders, long-forks, forklift,s etc.) in a safe manner,r moving MHE to and from the maintenance shop for repairs, with proper certifications from company procedures and safety standards
      • Performing safety inspections in accordance with OSHA and company policies on all equipment prior to being released back to the floor for use
      • Performing major battery repairs, checking batteries, and cleaning of battery racks and battery trays
      • Maintaining quality standards of the product throughout the shift, working in a damage-free manner
      • Lining up short and long forks coming back, checking batteries, and replacing as needed
      • Performing general repairs and maintenance when needed
      • Performing battery checks of all parked machines – using equipment such as a VOLT OHM meter
      • Completing all necessary paperwork, equipment inspection forms, and other documents accurately and in a timely manner
      • Performing basic soldering and welding skills
      • Using air-powered equipment when necessary
      • Assist in cleaning and maintaining a safe working environment in the warehouse
      • Flexibility to work various or additional shifts, as needed, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
      • Perform other duties as assigned by leadership

      Environment:

      • Warehouse Grocery – approx. 50F – 90F
      • Warehouse Perishable – approx. 26F - 60F
      • Warehouse Freezer – approx. 0F - -20F

      Schedule:

      • 1st shift – Thursday-Sunday
      • 4:15 am – 2:30 pm

      Compensation:

      • $20 per hour

      Experience:

      • Preferred: One (1) year of technical experience – Automotive or Industrial Equipment
      • Valid Driver's License is REQUIRED
      • Preferred: MHE experience (Electric pallet jacks such as center riders or long forks; forklifts)
      • Own and maintain up-to-date tools of the trade

      Skills:

      • Physical abilities : May be required to lift up to 80-85lbs.; standing, bending, lifting, and twisting for up to 90% of your shift; frequently lifting product from various heights, including floor level to over your head; Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours daily; working in various temperature-controlled environments; the ability to operate required material handling equipment – getting on and off equipment throughout shift
      • Strong communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with peers and leaders on a daily basis
      • Organizational Skills: Ability to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner; ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
      • Working in a team-based environment: Working independently and as a team player to ensure our customers are receiving orders in a timely and with the highest quality
      • Quality: Maintain integrity and high standards of product handling from all perspectives
      • Safety Culture: Maintain and drive safety policies; drive for accountability of safe practices throughout shift
