      2026 Summer Positions
      Summer Camps & Safety Town Program

      New Castle County Department of Community Services has openings for seasonal full-time and part-time summer positions assisting with summer camps and the Safety Town program. Applicants must be available during the summer months. Positions work 20-40 hours per week starting June 1, 2026, through August 14, 2026. Applicants must be able to participate in active outdoor recreation programs. Experience working with children is preferred. Applicants must be 18 years of age and a high school graduate at the time of employment. Selected applicants must pass a background check, physical, and drug screen.

      The positions listed below are for the Department of Community Services 2026 Summer Camps and Safety Town Program. See the next page for additional details.

      CAMP COUNSELORS - Full and Part-Time Positions
      (CSW III, $16.54-20.10/hr.)
      •Plans, organizes and directs camp programs and activities at the direction of the Head Counselor.
      •Supervises children ensuring safety and positive behavior.
      •Oversees safety and behavior of youth, making onsite appropriate decisions.
      •Ability to communicate courteously and effectively.
      •Ability to perform as part of a team.

      HEAD CAMP COUNSELORS – Full and Part-Time Positions
      (CSW IV, $17.36-21.11/hr.)
      •Applicants should have at least three years of experience leading groups of children. Teachers, paraprofessionals, and coaches are encouraged to apply.
      •Responsible for the day-to-day operation of camp programs and activities at a specific site.
      •Responsible for the supervision of subordinate staff.
      •Maintains records and submits reports.
      •Oversees safety and behavior of youth, making onsite appropriate decisions.
      •Ability to communicate courteously and effectively.
      •Ability to perform as part of a team.

      CAMP COORDINATORS – Full-Time Positions
      (CSW V, $18.23-22.16/hr.)
      •Applicants must have completed two years of college and have at least three years of experience leading groups of children. Current and former teachers are encouraged to apply.
      •Oversees several summer camp locations.
      •Responsible for the supervision of subordinate staff.
      •Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of youth participants and promoting positive behavior.
      •Responsible for implementation of NCC rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and programming.
      •Serves as primary liaison between programs and Program Manager.
      •Works independently and makes appropriate decisions.
      •Helps to investigate and resolve complaints and inquiries.
