What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Reconcile, examine, balance, and adjust accounting records
- Maintain various financial ledgers, registers, and journals
- Enter data into spreadsheets and assist with month-end close and annual financial audits
- Prepare periodic financial reports and assist in ensuring compliance with accounting principles
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with library staff and external partners
What is Required (Qualifications):
- An Associate's Degree in Accounting or a related field, and at least two (2) years of experience in accounting and record-keeping functions, or
- A high school diploma (or GED equivalent) and at least four (4) years of experience in accounting and record-keeping functions
- Experience in a public agency is highly preferred
- Valid Class C California Driver's license may be required at the time of appointment
- Personal transportation for job-related travel
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Familiarity with Sacramento Public Library's policies and procedures
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning software
- Strong analytical skills to evaluate accounting problems and draw logical conclusions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant accounting software
- Ability to effectively communicate with various stakeholders, including customers and external agencies
