      Job Description

      Are you a detail-oriented problem solver that enjoys coordinating meeting logistics and providing support to projects that are making a difference in our region? The Sacramento Area Council of Governments (SACOG) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Administrative Analyst to provide agency-wide support for arranging meetings with other government agencies and assisting with day-to-day to administrative coordination. This role plays a key part in ensuring meetings, logistics, and internal coordination run smoothly and effectively across the organization.

      The Administrative Analyst will demonstrate exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage a range of tasks while supporting multiple teams across the agency. This role is well suited for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes to coordinate logistics, improve processes, and contribute to projects that support SACOG's mission.

      The position will report to SACOG's Administrative Support Group Lead and sits within a collaborative group of on the Operations Team. This is an entry-level position in our Analyst class series. The Administrative Analyst will work closely with staff across the agency, including the management team, and will help support and coordinate meetings. This position offers the opportunity to gain broad experience across a variety of administrative and operational functions while contributing to meaningful regional work.

      SACOG is the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the six-county Sacramento region. Formed as a Joint Powers Authority, SACOG is governed by a board of 31 elected officials that directly represent all six counties and 22 cities in the region, and one ex-officio member (Caltrans).       Examples of Typical Job Functions
      This position provides professional support to administrative functions of SACOG. This position functions as a business partner within the agency, working with professionals on teams across the agency in service of the agency's mission to convene and connect the region to advance an equitable, sustainable, and prosperous future for the Sacramento region.

      Some of the priorities for the position are to:
      • Provide administrative support to the Management Team, focusing primarily on external scheduling and coordination of meetings with staff from other government agencies.
      • Provide administrative support to staff-level advisory committees with staff from other government agencies and members of the public, including maintaining contact lists, compiling and distributing meeting materials, and recording actions taken at the meetings.
      • Operate video conferencing and hybrid meeting technology in meeting rooms, including facilitating Zoom meetings and supporting in-person and remote participants. Set up and take down of equipment and materials for meetings.
      • Assisting staff with business travel coordination.

      Hybrid Position:

      As an integral part of our organization, employees will provide support in a flexible work environment. This position will have the ability to telework one day per week. The remainder of the work week will be in-person. Employees are required to live within 200 miles of Sacramento.

      Qualifications
      The ideal candidate will:

      • Draft and proofread emails, memos, and presentations, maintaining professionalism and clarity in all communications.
      • Maintain databases and spreadsheets to organize and track relevant information.
      • Anticipate and proactively address the needs of executives and teams.
      • Contribute ideas to administrative projects and events.
      • Meeting room setup including audiovisual equipment, prepare any necessary materials to be available at meetings.
      • Track project tasks and deadlines for administrative or agency initiatives
      • Support internal coordination across departments

      Desired Skills:
      • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Office proficiency
      • Experience using the meeting host controls with Zoom or other videoconferencing software
      • Excellent customer service

      • Establish and maintain a variety of digital filing, record-keeping, and tracking systems

      Education and Experience

      Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:

      Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in business or public administration, political science, finance, management information systems, or a closely related field.

      Some professional administrative, operational, management, or financial analysis experience is desirable.

      Possession of a valid California driver's license is required.

      Physical Demands
      This position requires medium physical activity in an indoors office environment. Positions in this classification bend, stoop, kneel, reach, push, and pull drawers open and closed to retrieve and file information. Positions in this classification also crawl, kneel, crouch, stoop and reach overhead and below shoulder level to set up for meetings. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects up to 50 pounds a distance of approximately 100 feet.
      Environmental Elements
      This is primarily a sedentary classification and the employee works in an office environment with moderate noise levels, controlled temperature conditions, and no direct exposure to hazardous physical substances. The employee interfaces with staff, management, other agency representatives, member jurisdictions, government officials, business representatives, and the general public in explaining SACOG policies and requesting and providing information.

      Paid Time Off
      • 18.67 hours per month through the third year of employment, increasing to 22 hours per month in the fourth through fifteenth years, and 25.34 hours per month thereafter
      • Paid Time Off balances over 350 hours rolled into 401(a) plan annually, with the option to cash out up to 80 hours

      • 12 paid holidays per year
      • 4 floating holidays after 1 year of service

      Cost of Living Adjsutment (COLA)
      Employees will receive a pay increase up to 4 % on July 1, 2025 and July 1, 2026.

      SACOG participates in Social Security.

      Deferred Compensation
      • 1% of salary contributed to a 401(a) plan for those who qualify for the 2%@62 pension benefit (PEPRA)
      • Optional contributions subject to annual IRS contribution limits for 457 and 401(a) plans
      Life Insurance
      • Employer-paid coverage up to $50,000, based on salary
      • Employer-paid spouse and dependent coverage of $2,000
      • Additional coverage available for purchase
      Short-Term and Long-Term Disablity Insurance
      Insurance coveres two-thirds of salary for qualifying disabilities

      • $157 per month in retirement if retiring from SACOG (adjusted for inflation)
      • $50 per month contributed to a Health Reimbursement Savings Account for each month of employment. Contributions are available to employee after leaving SACOG at any age
