- Education: Bachelor's Degree required.
- Experience: 3–5 years of leadership experience in a Texas School District, Campus, or ESC setting, with a strong background in data administration and technical support.
- Technical Standing: Expert proficiency in advanced software tools (spreadsheets, TSDS systems) for data analysis and reporting
- Advanced expertise in submission of TSDS Core Collections and PEIMS data and deep knowledge of the Texas Education Data Standards (TEDS) and TREx.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Financial Accounting Resource Guide (FASRG), Results Driven Accountability (RDA), CCMR, and federal/state laws regarding student and business data coding.
- Mastery of effective management practices, including the ability to foster a positive workplace culture and manage performance management systems.
- Proficiency in translating raw, complex data sets into actionable insights for regional reporting and strategic administrative planning.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal skills; proven ability to deliver technical presentations to diverse audiences and Executive Cabinets.
- Highly organized self-starter capable of managing complex filing windows and removing roadblocks through proactive problem-solving.
- Advanced skills in coaching staff to foster professional growth and instructional/operational excellence
- Partner with the Director to provide strategic leadership, ensuring all TSDS Core Collections and PEIMS goals align with the ESC’s mission; oversee day-to-day operations to ensure projects are completed with the highest quality standards.
- Manage and validate the high-stakes TSDS Core Collections and PEIMS data submissions for all Region 12 LEAs, ensuring data aligns with Texas Education Data Standards (TEDS) before final transmission to TEA.
- Recruit, onboard, and lead a high-performing technical team; provide routine coaching cycles and formal staff evaluations to build leadership capacity within the department.
- Serve as a functional bridge between the ESC, LEAs, and the Texas Education Agency; stay ahead of evolving TEA requirements and manage statewide initiatives as assigned.
- Provide high-level consultative support for complex TSDS issues, data discrepancies, and system navigation; removing roadblocks for both staff and district personnel.
- Direct the design and delivery of high-quality workshops on data reporting, TSDS Core Collections and PEIMS, and accountability systems as it relates to TSDS Core Collections and PEIMS data; ensure training effectiveness through QMS initiatives.
- Maintain the regional listserv and website; represent the organization professionally to regional superintendents and statewide partners to advocate for regional data needs.
- Supervise daily activities of PEIMS team to ensure operational efficiency and productivity
- Assign tasks and set clear performance expectations of team
- Monitor employee performance and provide ongoing coaching and feedback
- Assist in recruiting, interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new team members
- Address employee concerns and resolve workplace conflicts in a timely manner

- ESC Region 12 provides a monetary contribution up to $575 per month to use for employee/family healthcare and supplemental benefits.

Primary Purpose
To support the vision, mission, and strategic priorities of ESC Region 12. The Assistant Director of TSDS/PEIMS serves as the administrative leader and technical authority responsible for the oversight of state-mandated data systems for ESC Region 12. This role provides strategic leadership to the data services team, ensuring that all regional Local Education Agencies (LEAs) achieve integrity, accuracy, and timely submission of PEIMS and Core data through the Texas Student Data System (TSDS). The Assistant Director bridges the gap between complex TEA regulatory requirements and district-level operational execution, managing personnel, and statewide initiatives to enhance student achievement through data excellence.
