      Finance Controller Assistant, Germany

      Location: Frankfurt | Cologne area

      The Opportunity:

We’re looking for a Finance Business Partner who enjoys working close to the business, bringing clarity, insight, and confidence to financial decision‑making. In this role, you’ll play a key part in ensuring accurate, compliant, and transparent financial operations across Assurant Europe, while partnering with senior stakeholders to support sustainable growth.

You will report to the European Finance Controller and work collaboratively with the Operational Function holders and CEO of Assurant Deutschland GmbH (ADG) and the Head of Financial Planning & Analysis of Europe, contributing to both day‑to‑day operations and longer‑term financial strategy.

This is a great opportunity for a finance professional who values purpose, partnership, and impact in a diverse, international environment.

      What you will do:

      Accounting, Control & Reporting

      • Partner with the business to oversee daily, weekly, and monthly financial processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.
      • Coordinate bookkeeping, transaction management, and cost allocations across Assurant Deutschland GmbH (ADG)
      • Lead month‑end close activities and support the preparation of management and statutory financial reports, including balance sheets and P&L.
      • Support forecasting, budgeting, and planning activities, working closely with FP&A and wider finance colleagues.
      • Help maintain strong financial systems, controls, and governance frameworks (including SOX and internal controls).
      • Prepare audit materials and support internal and external audit processes.
      • Contribute to Solvency II and actuarial calculations, as well as annual financial statements

      Liquidity, Treasury & Capital

      • Monitor liquidity, investments, and balance sheet positions, supporting effective treasury management.
      • Prepare and review payments, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
      • Provide input to capital and solvency management activities.

      Tax & Regulatory Collaboration

      • Work in partnership with the European Tax team to support accurate and timely tax compliance, including VAT and Insurance Premium Tax (IPT).
      • Ensure ADG tax and regulatory requirements are met with care and attention to detail.

      What you Bring:

      Experience & Knowledge

      • Experience in finance roles, ideally within financial services or insurance (reinsurance knowledge is a plus, not a requirement).
      • Strong grounding in accounting, control, and financial reporting.
      • Exposure to Solvency II (or a willingness to develop your knowledge in this area).
      • Experience working in a matrix or multi‑stakeholder environment.
      • Comfortable using finance systems and digital tools to drive efficiency and insight.

      Skills & Capabilities

      • Confident working with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators, and banking partners.
      • Able to balance attention to detail with a pragmatic, solution‑focused mindset.
      • Comfortable working to deadlines in a dynamic environment.
      • Strong sense of integrity and accountability.

      Education & Languages

      • Degree or equivalent professional qualification in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
      • Professional working proficiency in German and English (written and spoken).

      Benefits & Training

      • Hybrid and flexible working to support different working styles and life commitments.
      • Competitive base salary with a performance‑related bonus.
      • 10% pension
      • Wellbeing and employee support programmes.
      • Ongoing learning and development opportunities to support your growth.
