      ACU is affiliated with the fellowship of the Church of Christ. This position requires the employee to be a professing Christian and to be willing to support the Christian mission of ACU.

      The assistant professor has administrative, teaching, service, and scholarship responsibilities consistent with the mission and vision of the university. This individual demonstrates expertise in online education, includingn teaching techniques, adult learning styles, and collaborative models of supervision.

      Key Responsibilities:
      A. Mentor CSD students in the CSD program
      B. Deliver engaging online undergraduate courses in Communication Sciences and Disorders
      C. Provide direct supervision and mentorship to undergraduate students in clinical practicums online, fostering students' development in clinical skills and professional competence. Preference given to applicants in the Dallas, TX who can oversee clinical practicum two mornings per week.
      D. Participate in departmental, college, and university committees. Contribute to program development, student development, and community outreach initiatives.

      Essential Duties:
      A. Provide high quality instruction, direction and support for students in the online classroom environment.
      1. Teach (54) credit hours per academic year
      2. Provide rich and timely feedback on student work, being both encouraging and constructively critical.
      3. Facilitate class size of up to approximately 30 students.

      4. Place students in groups for assignments/discussions.
      5. Provide timely and helpful answers to students' inquiries regarding course material or academic matters.
      6. Conduct periodic synchronous interaction sessions.
      7. Facilitate and grade all assignments in a timely manner.
      8. Enter final course grades after consultation with the Program Director by CHHS deadline.
      9. Alert lead faculty and/or Program Director to any student issues. This includes performance issues (e.g. failing grades, failing to turn in assignments, etc.) and policy violation issues (e.g. plagiarism).
      10. Engage in andragogically sound teaching methods designed for an adult learner.
      11. Comply with all pertinent policies and procedures outlined in Abilene Christian University's Handbook, Faculty Handbook, and those specified by ACU's College of Health and Human Services
      12. Other duties, as assigned and directed by the Program Director.

      B. Participate with the program faculty and Program Director and in planning,
      development, implementation of program and curriculum.
      1. Provide feedback to the Program Director for program and/or course
      improvement.
      2. Participate in program and faculty meetings.
      3. Attend/complete program and CHHS faculty trainings and provide
      credentialing/records updates as required.
      4. Represent university at conferences as able and as directed by the Program
      Director.

      C. Engage in an ongoing scholarship and/or maintaining clinical competency and
      certification.
      1. Develop and maintain scholarship mapped to the four areas of scholarship in the
      Faculty Handbook.
      2. Gain and maintain knowledge of trends and information pertaining to the
      program field through current practice, professional reading, active research
      and/or continuing education.
      3. Participate in clinical and/or scholarly activities as explained in the ACU Dallas
      Faculty Handbook.

      Qualifications:

      Professional
      1. Graduate degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders or related field required, terminal degree preferred.
      2. Instructional experience and working in a team environment, including in an online environment preferred.
      3. Computer literate in software and internet based applications.
      4. Proficient in APA style (formatting, citation requirements, punctuation, etc.).

      B. Personal

      3. Collaborative nature, with the ability to build consensus.
      4. Outstanding organizational and project management skills with the ability to consistently meet deadlines.
      5. Self-motivated and solves problems, asking for input and initiating solutions as appropriate and reasonable.
      6. Capacity to quickly learn new software applications
      7. Willingness to receive additional training and/or faculty mentoring.
      8. Ability to demonstrate good judgment when interacting with students, other faculty and staff.

      Physical Demands:

      A. Majority of work is performed in front of a computer and on the telephone; must have the ability to use the computer and remain stationary for long periods of time.
      B. Manage conversations in person, online and by telephone.
      C. Work well under pressure and manage stress well.
      D. Communicate clearly: speak, read, write, and hear clearly to perform essential functions.
