      Overview

      The Athletic Trainer (AT) will function under the direction of a physician as a vital part of a thriving Orthopedic & Sports Medicine team. The AT will serve as an essential member of the sports medicine team, supporting both clinical operations and high school athletics. In the clinical setting, the AT will assist with daily patient flow by preparing patients for evaluation, documenting care, communicating treatment updates, and performing physician-directed procedures such as bracing and basic therapeutic interventions. In the high school setting, the AT will provide comprehensive on-site medical coverage for practices, games, and athletic training room hours, insuring the health and safety of student athletes. The AT will collaborate closely with school staff, coaches, and clinic providers to deliver coordinated care, assist with injury prevention programming, and support the overall success of the sports medicine outreach program. Additional responsibilities may be assigned as needed.


      Qualifications

      Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

      • Bachelor's degree in athletic training or bachelor's in a related field (kinesiology, biomechanics, sports medicine, exercise science/physiology or health-related profession) with internship route certification in athletic training, preferably with a master's in same or related field, or two years' experience in a traditional on-field AT setting.
      • BOC certification and Florida state licensure as an athletic trainer.
      • Excellent communication skills are required along with strong computer literacy.

      Staff Athletic Trainer Level II:

      • Must be an AT for at least four years.
      • Become CPR and First Aid Instructor Certified Complete one additional certification (i.e. manual therapy)

      Motor Vehicle Operator Designation:

      • Employees in this position: Will operate vehicles for an assigned business purpose as a 'Frequent driver'

      NOTE: A frequent driver is defined as one who uses his/her personal or Shands automobile a) at least once daily, b) at least five individual trips per week or c) drives, on average, over 150 miles per week in the performance of his/her job.
