- Hold overall responsibility for supporting the Finance Senior Leadership Team and providing executive-level guidance and operational leadership to the EVP, CFO.
- Serve as a strategic partner to the CFO, ensuring effective management and coordination of all Finance business operations, initiatives, and priorities.
- Oversee and coordinate targeted projects and initiatives, driving execution of the Finance agenda and ensuring alignment with both long-term strategy and day-to-day operations.
- Conduct research and prepare background materials to inform executive decision-making.
- Facilitate communication and alignment among various workstreams, teams, and stakeholders across the Finance function and the broader organization.
- Establish and manage strong working partnerships with key business leaders and stakeholders, both internal and external, to ensure objectives are met and priorities are advanced.
- Develop meeting agendas and manage meetings on behalf of the EVP, CFO, including preparation of materials and monitoring follow-up on action items.
- Oversee the development of executive communications, including presentations, speeches, blogs, and other materials for a variety of audiences and forums (e.g., Offsite Meetings, Quarterly Meetings, SLT presentations).
- Act as a steward of Finance culture, values, and employee engagement, helping to foster a high-performing, collaborative environment.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
- Lead end-to-end change management for all finance transformation and strategic initiatives, ensuring the workforce and stakeholders are engaged, informed, and supported through transitions.
- Develop and implement comprehensive change management strategies and frameworks that drive adoption, minimize resistance, and maximize business results.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to anticipate impacts, identify risks, and proactively address obstacles to transformation.
- Define and manage governance processes to ensure achievement of both short- and long-term transformation goals.
- Facilitate the design, execution, and continuous advancement of Finance’s strategy and transformation initiatives aligned with long-term company priorities.
- Leverage internal and external data/best practices to develop actionable strategic recommendations.
- Regularly refresh long-term Finance strategy to reflect business needs and transformation progress.
- Drive business case development for strategic investments supporting transformation.
- Deliver analytics and insights to inform strategic and tactical financial decisions.
- Prepare, consolidate, and review Finance operational plans, ensuring integration of change management principles.
- Monitor adherence to business and budget plans, reviewing execution versus plan, and ensuring governance of business planning.
- Track transformation milestones and adjust operational plans to maintain alignment with change objectives.
- Facilitate budget development in partnership with Expense Management and Finance senior leadership, ensuring resource allocation supports transformation priorities.
- Monitor budget and communicate variances, issues, and risks, especially those related to change initiatives.
- Lead the development of communication strategies and materials that clearly articulate transformation goals, progress, and outcomes.
- Serve as a key advisor to the Finance Senior Leadership Team on change and transformation communications.
- Partner with Corporate Communications to execute strategic plans that engage employees and drive adoption of new ways of working.
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience) required.
- 10+ years of progressive experience, ideally in business/finance strategy, consulting, operations, or communications.
- Deep expertise in change management and leading complex transformation programs.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of the financial services industry.
- Proven ability to partner, problem-solve, and influence at the C-suite level on change and transformation matters.
- Exceptional critical thinking, analytical, and project management skills.
- Outstanding organization, time management, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to proactively prioritize and execute in fast-paced, changing environments.
- Demonstrated leadership in developing and executing plans that address business priorities and transformation objectives.
- Ability to develop execution strategies including resource allocations and budgets for transformation.
- Proven ability to manage multiple high-impact projects.
- Experience planning and executing communications and employee engagement programs supporting change.
- Strategic thinker with creative communications skills to engage employees in meeting business and transformation objectives.
- Expert in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Passion for personal learning and development to grow with the company.

General Summary:
This critical leadership role is a member of the Finance senior leadership team, actively shaping and driving Finance strategy and operational plans. The AVP, Chief of Staff & Finance Strategy leads holistic business planning and plays a pivotal role in the execution of finance transformation initiatives. The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$114,100.00-$215,700.00Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
