      About E&ES:

      Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train , zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/ services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

      Job Summary

      Caterpillar’s Electrification + Energy Solutions Division is looking an experienced Battery Systems Technical Lead to develop battery solutions for a wide range of applications. This role leads a team of battery design, test and validation engineers to electrify Caterpillar machines and applications. Specifically, this person applies product knowledge to develop innovative solutions, makes key decisions impacting battery strategy, utilizes project management skills to maintain commitments, fosters collaboration across the organization, interfaces with external partners, gathers key requirements, and evaluates business impacts and technical tradeoffs. This exciting opportunity will serve a critical role in developing batteries for wide range of Caterpillar applications.

      What You Will Do:

      • Lead battery design team from concept to certification delivering battery solutions for our customers

      • Lead battery system decision matrix activities gaining consensus across the organization

      • Analyze options and tradeoffs throughout the project to move team forward

      • Leveraging product and process knowledge to develop project R&D and material estimates

      • Develop detailed resource loading and high-level project plans

      • Collaborate with internal and external partners to clearly summarize and communicate areas of risk and suggest opportunities for improvement

      What skills you will have:

      Degree Requirement:

      • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field


      Decision Making and Critical Thinking:

      • Reviews and explains several battery solutions with multiple partners and stakeholders.

      • Utilizes critical-thinking and decision-making processes to make recommended battery solutions.

      • Coaches and champions others in decision-making models, processes, and practices.


      Effective Communications:

      • Adapts presentations for the intended audience, including internal teams, external teams, senior leadership

      • Demonstrates both empathy and assertiveness when communicating a need or defending a position.

      • Employs appropriate methods of persuasion when soliciting agreement.

      • Maintains focus on completing the mission, championing the solution that has consensus


      Project Management:

      • Champions organization's small batch project process.

      • Manages multiple high-risk, high-cost projects involving multiple stakeholders.

      • Monitors major projects for critical path and actual status versus planned.


      Computer-Aided Design & Engineering:

      • Quickly reviews proposed 3D models in order to consider battery options and packaging trade-offs

      • Ability to develop high level battery concepts from ground up in order to communicate options and trade offs

      Top Candidates will also have:

      • Knowledge in battery cell, module, pack and/or system design

      • Knowledge in battery electric powertrain integration

      Additional Information:

      • This role is located in Mossville, IL and does provide domestic relocation

      • This role requires 5-day a week on-site availability

      • Travel is expected up to 15% of the time

      Summary Pay Range:

      $147,760.00 - $221,640.00

      Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
