      The successful candidate will drive growth and profitability of Metso’s Crushing Plants business by combining technical process optimization expertise with strategic business development initiatives. The role focuses on solution selling, customer engagement, and long-term market expansion, while ensuring customers achieve measurable improvements in throughput, efficiency, and product quality through Metso’s crushing solutions.

      In this position, you will report to the Head of Technology Management.

      This position is mainly based in Centurion, Gauteng

      TEAM YOU’LL BELONG TO

      Additionally, the Business Development Manager will develop and maintain internal and external relationships in own area of responsibility and work across teams to contribute to the overall growth objectives of the business.

      WHAT YOU WILL DO

      Market Development & Strategy

      • Analyse market trends, competitor activities, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities in mining and aggregates
      • Develop and execute regional business development plans for crushing plants and related units
      • Support pricing strategies and value-based selling initiatives
      • Expand market share through strategic partnerships and solution selling

      Customer Engagement & Technical Advisory

      • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, EPCs, and industry stakeholders
      • Act as a trusted advisor by providing expert-level service and feedback on equipment performance
      • Identify and qualify new projects, including expansions and greenfield opportunities
      • Promote Metso’s full crushing solutions portfolio, including upgrades, automation, and digital tools

      Process & Plant Optimization

      • Conduct site-based audits of crushing circuits to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies
      • Develop and simulate optimized flowsheets using JKSimMet, Bruno, and HSC Chemistry
      • Translate ore characteristics into crusher selection and layout recommendations
      • Collaborate with site teams to implement process changes and monitor performance improvements

      Sales Enablement & Project Pipeline

      • Collaborate with Sales Managers and Product Specialists to develop proposals and win strategies
      • Support tendering processes with technical-commercial alignment
      • Maintain accurate pipeline data, provide forecasts, and ensure timely closure of opportunities
      • Drive cross-selling opportunities with other Metso product lines

      Study Management & Technical Assurance

      • Lead conceptual and pre-feasibility studies for crushing circuit expansions or new projects
      • Ensure alignment with Metso’s engineering standards and client expectations
      • Provide technical assurance and peer reviews for project deliverables

      Training, Mentorship & Innovation

      • Train site engineers and metallurgists on simulation tools and process audit techniques
      • Promote best practices in data collection, sampling, and circuit analysis
      • Evaluate and introduce new crushing technologies, automation tools, and digital solutions
      • Stay abreast of innovations in sensor-based ore sorting, AI-driven control systems, and predictive maintenance

      KPI's & Performance Metrics

      • Revenue growth from crushing plants and units
      • Number of new projects identified, converted, and successfully implemented
      • Market share increase in target mining segment
      • Customer satisfaction and retention scores
      • Measurable improvements in plant throughput, energy efficiency, and product quality
      • Accuracy of pipeline forecasting

      WHO YOU ARE

      • Matric (Grade 12)
      • Bachelor’s degree in Mineral Processing, Mechanical Engineering, or Mining Engineering or related field
      • Greater than 5 years of combined experience in business development, sales, and technical optimization within mining/aggregates equipment
      • Strong knowledge of crushing technology, plant design, and mineral processing (copper, gold, PGMs, cobalt)
      • Proven track record in solution selling, project acquisition, and process optimization
      • Proficiency in simulation tools like JKSimMet, Bruno, and HSC Chemistry
