      Job summary

      There is a new exciting opportunity for an aspiring Facilities Team member who is keen to develop themselves and progress in the Facilities Department within Patient Catering at RADU, (Receipt And Distribution Unit) building, Seacroft Hospital

      The successful candidate will be responsible for the direct Management of 26 band 2 Patient Catering staff on various shift patterns with regards to daily operational matters such as: rotas; service performance; sickness management; appraisals; stock management etc.

      The hours of work will be 37.5 hours per week on a 2 week rolling shift pattern, which includes working alternate weekends and also some short day shift and some longer day shifts covering between 0630-1630. The RADU building has a number of temperature controlled rooms and so working in a cold environment is to be expected in order to carry out many of the required duties.

      In addition to the direct staff management, the post holder will also be responsible for the Supervision of the catering service at RADU, act as a liaison between the RADU building and the catering service teams on the other LTHT sites which have a Patient Catering Service. The post holder will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with all Food Safety and Health & Safety aspects of operations within the RADU building.

      Main duties of the job

      You will be responsible for the direct management of Patient Catering Staff on daily operational matters, e.g., rotas, performance management, sickness management, appraisals, etc. You will manage food safety compliance in all aspects at the Receipt and Distribution Unit (RADU) based at Seacroft Hospital.

      You will play an active role in the ongoing development of the catering service and drive patient menu development. Looking at ways to maintain or improve the efficiency of services and systems already used. Raising and taking proactive action on poor product quality in line with the department systems & procedures. Ensuring orders to suppliers are raised in a timely manner and in line with historical and reactive service needs.

      We are seeking a candidate who can engage & motivate staff and colleagues to ensure delivery of a high standard patient catering service. You will provide assurance through training, coaching and mentoring as well as reviewing local processes and evaluation of various information sources with an emphasis on improving the patient experience.

      • Previous Catering / Cleaning experience
      • PC/IT Literate

      Desirable

      • Previous NHS experience
      • Supervising within a food manufacture or warehouse environment
      • Customer facing / customer care experience
      • Microsoft Office Suite

      • Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary), including clearance on blood borne viruses in compliance with Trust Policy
      • Ability to communicate both verbally and by reading and writing
