- Awareness and understanding of ethical issues that arise in this area of work
- Knowledge of legislation and policy as it effects this client group
- Skills in providing consultation to other professional groups and non-professional groups. This includes the capacity to sensitively advise, support, educate and mentor other professionals regarding therapy with people with complex mental health presentations
- Experience of working with individuals with complex trauma.
- Relevant experience of working in a mental health setting within a multi-disciplinary team.
- Experience of the assessment of the suitability of prospective clients for a recognised psychological therapy.
- Experience of or willingness to contribute to the clinical supervision of less qualified staff and/or trainees utilising both group and individual formats
- Experience of the application of psychological treatment in different cultural contexts
- Experience of teaching and training
- Experience of working with group dynamics and group processes
- Experience of working with a wide variety of clients across the whole adult life with presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity
- Experience of the assessment, formulation and treatment of high risk clients in crisis, who experience high levels of suicidal ideation, and frequently engage in deliberate self-harm.
- Must hold a current driving licence and have independent means of transport.

Job summary
Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Psychological Therapist/ Cognitive Behaviour Therapist - Full time
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic Band 7 Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or Psychological Therapist/CBT to join our Coventry Community Mental Health Team (CMHT). The team works with people with complex and enduring mental health difficulties such as complex trauma, mood disorders, and co-morbid physical and other mental health difficulties.
Psychological therapists within the CMHT are an exciting and vibrant mix of clinicians who offer a range of interventions including CBT, CBT-PD, EMDR, DBT-informed work, and CFT. The post would provide excellent opportunities in terms of developing specialist skills in psychological models of care.
Psychological therapists are embedded within the CMHT and we are therefore looking for someone who values and enjoys multi-disciplinary working and has a high level of understanding of the distinct contribution and added value that psychological approaches can make to service provision.
The job will involve providing specialist psychological assessments, formulations, and evidence based psychological interventions (individual and group) to service users. The role also includes joint work with colleagues in the form of team formulation, staff training, support and consultation around psychological issues and reflective practice, alongside audit, service development, evaluation and research activities as required.
Main duties of the job
With the support and supervision of a senior Psychological Therapist you will provide specialist psychological assessments, formulations, and evidence based psychological interventions (individual and group) to service users accessing the non-psychosis pathway of the Community Mental Health Team presenting with complex and enduring mental health difficulties.
You will also be encouraged to be involved inaudit, service development, evaluation and research activities.
