What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Review and enhance the integrity of clinical documentation through extensive record analysis and interaction with healthcare providers.
- Conduct educational sessions with physicians and healthcare team members on clinical documentation requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to address clinical documentation issues and improve overall documentation quality.
- Communicate discrepancies in documentation and coding definitions to physicians to ensure accuracy in medical records.
- Participate in performance improvement activities and contribute to staff meetings and committees.
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Associate/Diploma Degree in Nursing and 5-10 years of acute care medical or surgical experience required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Ohio.
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) credentials will be considered in lieu of a RN.
- Minimum of 5 years of acute care medical or surgical experience required; experience in Utilization/Case Management, managed care, or Clinical Documentation preferred.
- Proficiency in ICD-10 coding conventions and DRG methodology preferred.
